Ever wondered where our name comes from? Allow me to share a bit of history with you. Back in 2015, Jonathan Johnson and I found ourselves at a little pub in Theale, indulging in some gammon eggs and chips 🥩 🍳🍟, when the seeds of Auxato were planted 🌱. Jonathan envisioned stepping out of the corporate world to support the PR, Communications, and Marketing community in a way that truly resonated with us—with people at the forefront. After all, people are the backbone of any successful venture. Countless evenings were spent brainstorming ideas💡 until our core business plan was set, but we were still without a name! As a company founded on the principle of valuing and supporting individuals—not just treating them as numbers—it was clear that our name needed to reflect this ethos. And so, the concept of "Auxato" was born. Derived from Latin roots, Auxato merges "Auxiliary," signifying support, with "Natio," representing people. Thus, at our very essence, Auxato embodies our unwavering dedication to supporting people. But the questions still remains, do you pronounce it: pot-A-to 🥔 or po-TAH-to 🥔 .... 🔦 👨💼 Employee Spotlight is a new section we introduce in our page in order to make our people and their expertise more visible to you. What better way to inaugurate this new section then, than introducing Martin Hofman, an important executive and an exceptional gentleman. An expert in engineering, logistics and supply chain management, Martin joined Streem Global in early 2021 as Chief of Quality & Engineering, having already accumulated more than twenty years of invaluable experience in logistics, supply chains and the distribution market. But even before joining Streem Global, he was no stranger to our country, having settled here since 2001. He is not particularly fond of stagnant situations, so he is always up for a new challenge, be that a mental or physical one. Professionally, he’s had his fair share of challenges. Still, what he deems the most demanding (and rewarding) project he has ever undertaken, is raising his children, especially as they get older and need to be guided through the final stages of adolescence into adulthood. He gets excited when things come together. “This could be a client accepting a proposed technical solution, the first pallet going into a new warehouse or seeing new processes being applied by the people. Especially if it involves a big project with many people, when all the pieces of the puzzle fall into place, it’s the best thing!” As far as his vision for Streem Global goes: “I like to believe that we all have the same vision for Streem! My role in this vision is to make sure that, in the end, Streem can be on a par with the big players in the 3PL market in terms of technology used, productivity achieved, and standards applied”. Martin enjoys running, hiking, puzzles and cinema. He’s fluent in English, Dutch, Greek and German, so his expertise is shared in many languages – an ideal trait in an industry that is of global scope. Ah, Valencia, city of arts and science... As Scilifers of Europe converged on the city for Q2 team building, we were immediately greeted with Valencian warmth - both the sunshine and the toothpick-wielding, gravel-voiced, music-pumping taxi drivers. ✳ Day 1 was made up of food and drink and walking and laughter. Filled with paella and tapas until we could eat no more, we went on a tour of the old city - including the second thinnest building in the world and a church where executioners used to sharpen their axes. Refreshed by horchata (looks like milk, but made from tiger nuts, water and sugar) and Agua de Valencia (not actually any water, but orange juice, cava, gin, and vodka!), the team bonded stronger as we walked the streets and survived the heat. ✳ Day 2 was about putting our minds together. Working in cross-functional teams, we brainstormed company goals, objectives and strategies. What new ideas could we come up with for Q3? How could we hit our KPIs and go beyond them? What innovative ways could we continuously improve? From product and UX to growth and demand, knowledge and data to finance, brand, and customer success, we sought new quality solutions. Because at Scilife, we constantly seek innovation, improvement and success. And so, with our stomachs full and minds racing, we left Valencia after yet another amazing Scilife team building session - raring to go and put our ideas into action.
