Indian pitch becomes more favorable for the Footwear Industry - Highlighting the key developments in Indian Footwear Industry. 💡 With China +1, Implementation of BIS, and the recent TN Global Investors summit to provide a level playing field for both domestic and global footwear brands. 💡India is 2nd largest producer of footwear, with 10% of the global share, whereas China dominates the industry by more than 55%. Non-leather footwear industry is about 60% of the total footwear industry, with a market size of 1.05 Lakh Cr by 2026, growing at a rate of 10% CAGR. 💡The recent TN global investor summit brought the deal worth more than 3500Cr, excluding the 400cr investment from Crocs at preambular. Last year alone key players like Pou Chen, Feng Tay, and Kothari Phoenix Group signed investments worth Rs 6,000 crore for setting up non-leather footwear manufacturing units which is a strong road for the non-leather footwear industry in TN which currently contributes more than 45% of exports in the leather footwear sector. 💡Most of the investments are in non-leather footwear where 95% of production falls under MSME, which is the backbone of the Indian economy which generates 1/3rd of manufacturing output and employment. 💡As per the DPIIT report, for every 1000 pairs produced and sold in India per day, the sector generates about 425 jobs directly and indirectly. 💡The demand for non-leather footwear is largely driven by the recent consumer shift towards health & fitness, coupled with casual appeal esp from Gen Z and Alpha who make fashion statements with their appeal, increasing the demand for Sports shoes, casual sneakers, and Soft EVA(Ethyl Vinyl Acetate) categories. With mass brands like WalkaroO, Paragon, Relaxo & VKC set to witness the healthy competition, the business landscape looks promising with strong and stable policies ahead. #industryinsights #TNGIM2024 #msme #footwearindustry #walkaroo
