I have very fond memories of this game. Back in the days I played it so many times. I was used to know by heart all tracks, instinctively predict all turns, I had that extra edge to beat the computer! It’s very hard work, in the arcade mode you need to win enough races to get the necessary car upgrades to complete the game. I'm still enjoying it today, I'm not as good as before, as my reflex skills obviously deteriorated For me today this is still one of the best overhead car racing challenge!

It has lots of circuits and car upgrades, and it's as pretty as topview racers get on the A500 -like most Team 17 games it's a visual extravaganza of smooth scrolling and no slowdown, but it's too difficult to be fun. Even after several attempts across the courses, with different cars and different upgrades, I've only finished above 4th in one race, and there's no incentive to persevere as it's not clear what I'm doing wrong. Turns and hazards come at you far too quickly due to the minimal view ahead, many track layouts just aren't obvious, and the bouncing powerups feel like a bad idea - no wonder nobody else tried it. Maybe it's better as a two-player game , as that has weapons and no CPU cars?

Best overhead racing game on any system.

Yeah this game was on the difficult side on the later tracks but it's better than being too easy I guess. The only real downer for me was the cones that got on the way that you couldn't remove for some reason.
But apart that this was a very playable and slick racer 7.5/10

This is the best overhead racer Amiga had. Fluid animation, stunning visuals, arcade gameplay style with random tracks that require constant improvement of your technique. There are six worlds with seven tracks in each to race on and three types of cars to choose from. Each of the worlds is dedicated to a different car so you need to work on your skills and track's knowledge. I can't undestand why the player's rating is so low in this game but it deserves score 10/10. Downside of CD32 edition is that it does not bring anything over regular version.

Not harsh, but idiotic. They played it just five minutes. They probably had some problem with Team 17, take a look at the Tower Assault score..

Wow look below at Amiga Power's score - 38%!!! I think that was harsh, anyone else agree?...

All Terrain Racing is the best balanced racing game I've ever seen. Nice graphics, great gameplay and well designed boosts. And moreover, it's for two players on one screen.

It's more beautiful than Micromachines, for more players than Deathrally, more playable than Skidmarks and much more funnier than Lotus!

Probably the best overhead racer for Amiga. There are 3 cars to choose from and 42 well designed tracks. Graphics and sound are very good. Difficulty level is quite high, so don't expect to complete ATR in a weekend. The key to the success is learning the tracks - without that forget about being a winner.
You need to spend a lot of time playing ATR to complete it but don't worry because this game is extremely addictive.

It's a shame ! Fantastic looking mini racer which is really much too difficult ! Retrovirus is right ! Only the demo gameplay is ok ! The same as with skidmarks ! Nitro is much more balanced ! 7/10

Retrovirus: Too difficult to enjoy? What are you on? Aren't games magazines always praising games FOR their difficulty, so they won't be completed during the first day, and thus offer value for money?

I suck at games, and I have certainly enjoyed this game every time I played. Seriously, most games are just way too difficult for me, so I can't understand when people say that "difficulty equals good".

And yet, All-Terrain Racing is definitely easy enough for me to enjoy it tremendously!

You know, there is more to games than how difficult it is, anyway (you can enjoy the atmosphere, graphics, music, etc. Even if you don't like the fluid and smooth playability that this wonderful game offers).

This game is so slick and polished, you will wonder whether you suddenly got a new TV/monitor when you play it. The graphics are just superb, they couldn't be any better - the musics are great and inspiring, in an exciting and energetic way - the animations of the cars - just how many frames are there? And they don't even look rendered! (Though they might be)

Beautiful, hand-drawn graphics, smooth scrolling, wonderful music, good sound effects - AND great playability make this game the best of the genre.

That's right, THE BEST.

I can't understand the complaints. If I can complete several levels and enjoy it enormously, surely ANYONE can! At least difficulty-wise.

I had a friend who always wanted to play this game, whenever possible (though we had so many games we both wanted to play, we ended playing this only occasionally). He loved it.

And I completely understand, why. When playing a SMS car game, I wished I was playing ATR instead. A wonderful, timeless classic.

A true must-have!

Simply put, ATR was too difficult to enjoy. Team 17 ruined a perfectly good game with overly convoluted track layouts, devilish obstacle placement, and hard-as-nails AI. Had they made ATR a bit more accessible, I might have fallen in love with it. As it is, it's one of the more frustrating gaming experiences I had.

This looked wonderful in the magazines, bright cartoony graphics with plenty of colourful tracks. Furthermore, it plays quickly and smoothly. However, this just doesn't cut the mustard for me due to a number of detrimental features. The most cloying of these are the steep difficulty even on easy mode (making only a couple of mistakes can often strike a fatal blow to your chances in the race) and the scrolling which reveals an unrealistically small portion of the road ahead. As a consequence, you'll be crashing on the corners an awful lot and finding it next to impossible to catch up with the proficient computer players. Also, on the canyon and snowy levels it can be extremely difficult to distinguish where exactly to follow the track; once again, you'll crash an awful lot as the turns can often look like dead ends. I didn't mind the bouncing powerups but the turbo boost would often launch you straight into an obstacle because it takes effect straight away, and the scrolling doesn't really give you time to react. The traffic cones are also a massive hindrance, and there is little variety in vehicles and terrains.
Overall, this is a massive disappointment as it does run well, so the foundation for a good game was there. A bit more tweaking could've resulted in a top racer, unfortunately it wasn't to be. 3/10 from me

This is a game of two halves. If you dont know the levels its a very hard learning curve. If you know the levels inside out, you make no mistakes, and you lap at least 2 cars on every level, then it becomes quite fun and easy. Two player mode is rather annoying, but great graphics music and sfx, handling (with upgrades) is better than SC2, and speed is faster. I still prefer SC2 but this is quite a gem for the diehards.

I was a sucker for racing games. In fact, I still am. So you can imagine my joy when I first heard that Team 17 was pouring out a racing game. I had to get it. But once I did and loaded it up, all I was confronted with was bitter disappointment. Yes, it had good graphics, slick presentation, fluid motion, all that technical mumbo-jumbo... But in the gameplay department it was severely lacking. The weapons system was awful, much worse than the much older SuperCars games. The gameplay point-of-view was very bad, making it hard to anticipate the circuit. It was not on par with much older games like Championship Driver or Nitro... All in all, I was very disappointed with this... The Amiga was already relegated to a secondary plain as a gaming machine and at the time there were far better games for the PlayStation, the Saturn and even the SNES and the overpowered/chronically underdeveloped PCs. This game kind of embodies the final nail onto my emotional Amiga's coffin. I guess I hate it because of it.

Brilliant game! Had the nice team 17 touch to the GFX in the style they were using at the time, with super slick and fast scrolling. The game play was really great with a nice sliding feel to the car. One of the best top down racers on the Amiga

A nice game with superb graphics, excellent sound, addictive gameplay and that quirkyness that most Team17 games had.
I like this game a lot, which is surprising as usually, I can't stand top down racers.
I saw this first on Amiga Format coverdisk (the xmas demo!) and loved that for a quick blast, then I was given the originals from a mate of mine, he'd sold his Amiga and forgot about the ATR disks (& box & instructions) so this was a freebie for me! Great stuff

Graham, Graham...you can`t judge a game which you haven`t played and I think you haven`t given this game a chance. Ok it seems a bit difficult at the beginning but in an hour you`ll enjoy it a lot - in all modes. I personally liked battle mode and career mode best and if you have a friend who enjoys this excellent game you will have a lot of fun.

Even less fun to play than Overdrive, it contains some of the most illogical course designs known to man, bland graphics and feels incredibly empty most of the time. Nine times out of ten you won't even see any other cars on the track, it feels like you're racing against yourself for the most part. A waste of time.

6 areas x 7 circuits are 42 circuits!,they are distributed in 3 very long tournaments. The fights to arrive first are better than MotoGP! If ATR had to multi-player split-screen would be a completely perfect game, anyway I play alone.

One of Team 17's worst. The good graphics and smooth scrolling can't disguise that this is a tedious game to play with stupidly-placed traffic-cones slowing the car down on a regular basis and opponents who easily overtake you within a few minutes of starting. Rubbish.

Fun game with great GFX and sfx, but it's really annoying that you have to drive perfect and always buy the right stuff for your car to even have a chance to qualify in the later races, even if you chose the easy difficulty level.

I really think that this game is top fun! Couldn't stop playing until I finished it all... The only thing that hit on my nerves is the floating movement of bonuses: that's a "luck factor" that belittles the player's ability and, in all, the otherwise excellent gameplay.
Ah, and it is technically perfect, too, so it gets my tenner

Nice to look at, but offers very little variety compared with its peers. Doesn't find any balance in level of difficulty- starts too easy before swerving to the other extreme later on.

Sleek graphics and music but I found the game to be lacking in the "character" department that made games like Indy Heat so playable. Also the last couple of tracks were so frustratingly difficult I ultimately abandoned it. If there is any level-skipping cheats I might have another play ;-)

Brilliant racing game on Amiga, but it's a bit hard to play, well some of the course of this game are not so hard, I had few problems going through the short cuts and all of the sudden I lose the race which is bad for me. The graphics are very good, same graphics as the other Team 17 software games. Nice one!!!
