Yet another little forgotten gem of early days of C64 Brøderbund titles. Cool and clever game play, C64 early classic. One of those game you might periodically throw on for awhile and yet definitely revisit. Naturally with this type of game, it can get repetitive, but the cool skits and bonus material make this great fun and very unique and core :commodore: that many early C64ers may have had a disk or at least a copy at some point.

If I think of unique cool little games on the c64, I will not immediately remember spare change but if I am reminded, the memories come back and this game stands out as another of the countless little mini-classics. Looking at it today, I think the inclusion of the mini-skit animation sequences are and were a great idea and make this game very special. It's novel, and actually a motivator to play today (even more so than in back-in-the-day). So there's definite age appeal. A game to stash away and then do it all again after memory dissipates. Another game I did not play often or heavily in session, but it has its place. I am aware this was also issued to other platforms, like many arcade games, but to me this is classic C64 all-the-way. Spare time = spare change.

I'd read about this game on the Apple II before getting a chance to play it on my Commodore. Consequently, I'd always assumed it was educational somehow, but never could sort out how. The occasional token in the pay phone was a nice touch. Overall it's not bad, a sort of slightly frantic, not terribly difficult screen full of toys.

This one seemed really weird to me as a kid, and it seems even weirder now. After all, in 1983, video games didn't have to make sense, and rarely did. You have to fill up a bin with tokens from token machines. Two strange creatures are trying to steal them from you and fill up their piggy bank. While you can't kill each other, you can distract them by feeding coins into various amusements - a jukebox which plays various tunes (which they dance to), a popcorn machine (which they watch excitedly), and telephones (which they talk to each other on). On one level there's even a slot machine that you can feed dollar bills into. Between levels, you're treated to a cute animation showing the characters involved in various hijinks. Pretty easy once you figure out what's going on, but still kinda neat.

This was one of my favourite C64 games as a kid!
