I always struggled to get far in the game. It's excellently written, and I feel like it was always more of a tech demo than a game - but mainly because I couldn't get far. 9/10

I have been trying to get into this because it looks amazing, but the controls are a nightmare! I was going to score it 8 but docked it a point because of this.

AN absurdly ambitious Aardvark on any 8 bit machine, it is a massive game with little in the way of hand-holding.

Another daft comment from Turrican... The BBC version is brilliant, and the original, but the C64 version looks better and plays just as well. For anyone else, Exile (on the C64, which is why we
re here) is a brilliant game. Loads of depth, with so much to do and tons of reply value. I spent hours just playing with grenades!

After looking at the BBC version I'm not so sure it beats this effort. The BBC has jerkier scrolling, bad colours and a smaller playfield (I think). Technically it's an achievement on any 8-bit platform though.

I love this game so far, although it is very confusing. Not a game you can just pick up and play, and one that forces you to sit at a desk due to all the keyboard use.

10/10 for graphics and presentation. 7/10 for gameplay.

Never owned or played it, but the graphics kind of remind me of Metroid

Just played this for the first time... Awesome game! I'll certainly spend some boring sunday afternoons with it. :)
I'm sure everyone already knows this but you can grab a full working version here: noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=82430

I never got to play the full game (anyone know of a emu version that works?) but I played the demo for litterally months. This game is easilly on par with GTA for sandbox gameplay.

I loved finding new ways to 'dispatch' those pesky frogs!!!

Unbelievably big and the phsyics are easily on par with modern games.

An 8bit wonder, MUST try this or the Amiga version at least once.

One of the best. It kept me playing for a long time. I never completed it, maybe like you said Jazcat, I had a copy.
But still my favourite game on the C64.

This is my all time favourite game ever written for the C64 it kept me enthralled for months, I played the demo of Exile for weeks eagerly anticipating the full release.
The world in this game is HUGE, I’ve completed it 20 odd times on the C64 and downloaded the Amiga emulator just so I could play it on that as well.
Be warned that nearly all copies apart from the original will not work properly, it has some intelligent game copy protection that removes needed objects within the game if it senses its not the original. I’m yet to find a proper cracked version that works.

One of the classics, probably the finest action / adventure game on the C64.

Never completed it even though I played it every day for years! So easy to get carried away in the game, there's always something new to try out. The physics in the game are almost lifelike, the gameplay seems strange at first but once you realise it's not like ANY other game it all makes sense. This game has it all. My only regret is selling it along with my C64 many years ago! The emulator version has a few graphical glitches but plays ok.

Classic game... Oddly enough this came out years earlier on the BBC Micro. Probably started out as a physics simulation at school for somebody or something.

Very deep.

Quite simply, the best arcade game in the whole entire universe. Played both the C64 and Amiga version, a true classic that has an alluring atmosphere which has never been matched in any other game of its genre.

Don't let the rating deter you - this is one of the best arcade adventures ever released on the C64.

Who the hell is voting here, morons. 5. 9 for a classic. Its real space like gravity, superbly re-produced on an 8bit machine should give it 8 out of 10. Dont vote unless u know wot u are on about. You are giving a fantastic game a rating the same as a fucking dizzy game...

This game is a work of art, one of it's kind! It's unique in style and gameplay. To tell the truth, I haven't played the C64 version (much), but the Amiga (500!) version is absolutely stunning, what a challenge.
It's exploring, it's freedom, it's cute, it's mushrooms and monkeys, and ofcourse fluffy!
Hard, but satisfying when you get a bit further, it compells you to go on and on, you just want to beat the game (I'm still trying). It's much underrated. I rate it 10/10 (on whatever platform I guess). Even Edge magazine wrote an article about it. A timeless classic! You don't want to miss it.

How can this game only have a rating of 4. 7? Was it really destested by so many people or has this game been the victim of voting assasination? I don't hesitate to give this game 9/10: just awesome.

My favourite game on the 64 and still beats most things on more powerful formats. Many a long night has been spent trying to progress further into the game. I never finished it but it didn't matter as I'd had hours of gameplay out of it. Full of atmosphere and neat real world physics make it one of the best designed computer games ever. They tarted up the graphics for the Amiga but I thought it lost some of its charm then even though it played identically. Once you learned the joys of teleporting it made the puzzles a lot easier to solve. It also has a very elegant ram save function to save a bit of frustration at tricky stages within the game. Download this if you want a bit more than a standard shoot em up, it really is a multi faceted game with elements of adventure, shoot em up and puzzle games. Go on, use your brain...

I bought this from Commodor Force and waited 3 weeks for it. When it came I spent many weeks on its superbly difficult puzzles and it was one of the most diificult yet enjoyable games I played, and it was as good as ATA the tetris clone, and mayhem. Thank god I have had the good luck to find it again. All in all a great game. Its jsut a pity console owners never got to play it.

One of the best - and most underrated - games of ALL time on any format. This is one of the best adventure type games ever -and now im comparing it with the likes of tomb raider - its THAT good. I love this game and still play it 10 years since I lost my C64 due to a power surge in the staffordshire region !!! ;-)
