The Autocar Company was founded in 1897 by two brothers as the Pittsburgh Motor Vehicle Company building brass era cars. By 1907 they decided to focus on the manufacturing of commercial trucks, and the Autocar Company was born. Even through a number of ownership changes, the Autocar iconic "Bow Tie" badge is still emblazoned on every truck that they produce, making it the oldest surviving vehicle nameplate in the United States.

Autocar specializes in ground up, custom configured and built trucks for many different applications. They are most well known for their refuse removal trucks, incorporating mechanical armitures and other industry specific options, but Autocar can build a truck for most any application. From paint stripers and cranes, to sweeper and aircraft industry applicable trucks, Autocar is up to the task. Having the manufacturing based in the United States also ensure that they put out the highest quality product possible.

Autocar's history of manufacturing in the United States has not stopped and they still roll out every custom configured and built truck here in the U.S.A. They have also worked towards making their company and trucks as green as possible with 60% of their new trucks being powered by CNG (Compressed Natural Gas). They also have over 5,000 CNG powered trucks on the road right now, more than all their competitors combined! And with the debut of their new hybrid powered truck, Autocar is at the forefront of green technology.
