Residents of El Achiotal, a community affected by November flooding and mudslides in El Salvador, enter the schoolyard where a Medical Civil Action Program (MEDCAP) was in session Dec. 15, 2009. The two-day medical mission offered residents the opportunity to receive medical care, immunizations, education, and prescription drugs free of charge. It was a combined effort between the Salvadoran government, the U.S. Embassy in El Salvador, and U.S. Southern Command’s Joint Task Force-Bravo – based at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras. More than 1,300 patients were seen in the two days. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Mike Hammond)
