I was hunting through some papers and found about 1000 photocopies of various things that are WT-related.

Thought I would share some of them.

In 1980 The WTS sent a thank you letter to the Johannes Greber memorial Foundation. The thank you was for copies of Greber's New Testament and his book "Communication with the Spirit World".

A little over a year later a sister from California wrote to the Society asking if they knew where she could get a copy of Greber's New Testament. I just love their answer. (I have edited out her full name and address)

    So much for being honest!

Along with these teo letters there is a letter from the Johannes Greber Memorial Foundation. I'm guessing this letter was recieved when the WTS got their copies of the New Testament and "Communication with the Spirit World of God" although that is just a guess on my part. Pay special note to what is underlined.

This is very useful info because it shows that the FDS still had dealings with the occult long after Rutherford died, the ouija boards were stopped, and the JWs apparently ceased to meddle in the occult.

    Lady Lee,

Thanks for sharing that. I heard about it but seeing it really hits home. I am going to copy those letters to my computer for future reference. Lilly

Thanks for posting those. They are also available in some of the books from Freeminds I believe. Another name you should look up is John S Thompson. If I remember correctly he is another medium the wt used in some sort of capacity. sorry I don't have the heart to search tonight. I will leave to someone else to look up, I know you can google the name if you are interested.

By the way, here in an interesting link that is about Johannes Greber and a comparison is made to Judge Rutherford who the author of the article believes was also a spirit medium

Another spirit medium used by the Watchtower Bible And Tract Society. John S. Thompson http://www.forananswer.org/Top_JW/Thompson.spiritism.htm The following is from "Fanatical Guides," an article in The American Quarterly Review of September 1830, volume 8 (pp. 227 to 245). It describes, in Thompson's own words, his experience with spiritism:

"My honesty in expressing my sentiments, nearly destroyed my fellowship with the whole body of professing Christians, and caused me much bitterness. I appeared almost as an isolated individual, feeling no interest in any party, nor almost in any terrene object. The subject of religion seemed to me to wear a gloomy picture. For a time, I desisted from every religious meeting whatever, and for several months dreaded insanity. My application to study was inexpressibly intense : I never slept more than two or three hours. The deity of Jesus, the immortality of the soul, and some other subjects, continually kept my mind in excitement. Having adopted Materialism on the Priestleyan plan, I could not admit the existence of spirits in our world; for all antiquity supposed spirits to have been originally men : but if there had been no resurrection, there could be no human spirits.

"I will now proceed to relate things, just as I have before done, agreeably to the views and impressions I then had ; leaving every one to form his own opinion. I acknowledge, my mind was in a state of great excitement, at the time I had these extraordinary impressions; but it did not then seem to me, nor does it yet, that the degree of the excitement was adequate to the phenomena. I awoke, one night, and heard a considerable noise in my room. I listened carefully for some time, and the sound was that of a thousand pens, writing in great haste what was dictated. I heard a voice very distinctly, saying, - ‘In all your writings, be careful to represent Jesus as only the instrument of God in all he does.’ I immediately interrupted, by exclaiming,- ‘Silence! I’ll not believe one of you.’ The noise immediately stopped; and I was often afterward sorry that I had interrupted the dictation. I examined; but there was no person in the room, the door being locked, and none had yet arisen in the house.

"Not long after, sleeping in the same room, I awoke by pressure, which removed immediately on awaking. I began to reflect, whether it was a dream, or an external force applied to my body. Whilst I doubted, some being took hold of my hands, and pressed with violence, which excited in me great surprise. My hands were let loose, but, in one minute, they were again seized, with renewed violence. I then cried, - 'Let me loose! I believe! do not injure me! I am entirely satisfied of your existence!’ The pressure on my hands was immediately removed, and I then felt greatly agitated, and tossed in my bed. In two minutes after, my hands were seized a third time : I then complained loudly, but, in a minute of time, I was again set at liberty. I leaped on the floor, determined that I would make full proof, whether any person had got into the room : though I believed that no man could apply so much strength as I had experienced on my hands. The first thing I did was to examine the door, which I found as I had left it, locked, with they key in the inner side. I took the key out of the door and again trying it, found it fast. I then groped all over the room, but found nobody. I retired to my bed, placing the key under me, and waiting for the light of day.’"

    - Kingdom Interlinear Translation (1985), p. 1139.

Mr. Thompson claimed to be directed by "some being" who entered his room at night and directed him: "in all your writings, be careful to represent Jesus as only the instrument of God in all he does" (American Quarterly Review, 1830, Vol. 8, pages 227-245). Here is a second letter where they claim they don't know of any current address:

Imagine that! They recommend a JW to go to a second-hand store to find a spiritistic book written in consort with deemunz!

Rutherford's Books sold at Occult Book Store! From Seb: Many bookstore owners pride themselves in selling only particular kinds of books.

This helps them to (stand-out) from other bookstore owners, because the customers become familiar in knowing that only their fashion of interest can be met by going to just this one bookstore.

If a person is looking for books on the (Occult)-then what better place to find such a book, than at an Occult Bookstore?

EXJWs are alway being accused of making up stories about the WatchTower and the literature that has come forth from the Watchtower Leaders.

It is quite obvious that (other) people (besides) EXJWs have noticed the close relationships, between the (Occult) and many of the Watch Tower Society's books.

Some of these people call books of this nature (Occult or Esoteric).

Esoteric means: Secret, understood by a chosen few, for only a certain group, confidential.

None of those definitions display the (OPEN, CLEAR, and UNDERSTANDABLE, EVEN BY CHILDREN)-message of Christ.

Please note these two book numbers being sold at this Occult Bookstore.

    #2459 and #2562

Both books are from the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, as Joseph Rutherford was the author.

Here is an example of what you will see when you get to the website:-
    -----------------------------------

2459 LET GOD BE TRUE RUTHERFORD NONE WTBTS 1946 NO DW.318PP.V\G £8.00

2541 HEALING THE CHILD WITHIN CHARLES WHITFIELD NONE HEALTH

2544 BOUNDLESS ENERGY DEEPAK CHOPRA IN TEXT R 1995 SOFTBACK.133PP.NR

2546 DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF WITH YOUR FAMILY RICHARD CARLSON

2562 THE HARP OF GOD RUTHERFORD NONE WBTS 1921.375PP.V\G £8.00
    ---------------------------------------------------------------

If you write those two numbers down, it will be easier to refer to
them when you get to the site, in order to find the two listings.

    Go here: http://www.booksmart.co.uk/esoteric.htm
    Backup thread: http://www.booksmart.co.uk/esoteric.htm
    --------------------------------------------------------------

It is very clear that (other people) have found the same (occult
related) information in Watchtower literature, besides those who have left the Watchtower.

If the bookstore owner here thought that these books were
(religious), instead of (occult related),--then more than likely
these books would not have even gotten a second look from the store-owner.
