As far as we’re concerned, the Estima is a revolutionary design, and a superstar of the Japanese modified van craze. Super spacious, stylish, and economical these haulers were a massive design change from the alternative family haulers offered at the time. This 1996 Type G model features an efficient four-cylinder supercharged engine with full-time all-wheel drive, The cleverly mounted engine optimizes cabin space and is easy to access for service purposes. The interior, which comfortably seats seven, is packed with premium materials and is chock full of amenities. Finished in White Pearl Mica Metallic (042), this example is offered with a mere 78K verified and documented miles and is in excellent condition. This party on wheels does have some minor scratches, dings, and chips associated with normal use and the stunning styling is care of Fabulous aero and Garson DAD Zuenglein wheels. Recently serviced, and legally imported this unique Japanese Classic will turn nplenty of heads while being a capable year-round commuter that can be enjoyed with family and friends.

Toyota used only its best materials and focused on functionality while designing the interior. The dash is in good shape and lacks any cracks or distortion. Housed inside is the simple to use automatic climate control system delivering cold A/C or hot heat on demand. Occupants can separate the front from rear controls to isolate the rear climate system. Dual SRS airbags come standard on this model and provide extra security for the front passengers. The radio was removed by the previous owner, but that shouldn't matter much, as Japanese radios do not function well here in the US. All the factory wiring is there to plug in a head unit of your choice. The driver benefits from tons of power equipment including electric windows, power locks, power-folding mirrors, and a massive powered rear sunroof. These all work like a charm and make daily use enjoyable. The seats are trimmed in a light gray cloth that is soft to the touch. The seating surfaces are in above-average shape for a vehicle of this age and lack any notable rips, stains, or tears. The headrests are wrapped in a similar gray cloth and have aftermarket screens installed, consistent with the early 2000s VIP rides. The door cards look equally good, except for some light flaking to Toyota's infamous rubberized coating. The carpets and cargo area are clean and the plastics within the cabin have aged nicely, without much cracking or fading. It’s clear this van was kept up quite well in Japan and even retains its original owner’s manuals and carpeted floor mats.

The drivetrain is as unique as the styling. Toyota chose a mid-engine layout and tilted the motor on a 75-degree angle for efficient packaging. The proven 2TZ engine received a roots-style supercharger giving the Estima some extra ponies. The 2.4L inline four-cylinder engine is fresh off an oil and filter service and turns over quickly, with the turn of a key or push of a button, thanks to the replacement battery and aftermarket remote start system. The brand-new alternator supplies plenty of power keeping the new 12V battery fully charged. The 2TZ-FZE is mated to a smooth shifting automatic gearbox, and the torque is distributed to all four wheels making this van a capable daily driver for all seasons. The power steering is effortless, and the shorter wheelbase and precise steering make this chassis easy to maneuver while making tight turns. Most notably, the aftermarket Largus coilovers can be lowered down to dial in the stance, but have very aggressive spring rates and make for a very firm ride. The aforementioned eighteen-inch Garson DAD wheels have been wrapped in brand new all-season Falken tires and will provide trouble-free trips for tens of thousands of miles to come.
