The six-episode limited series is a fictionalized version of Blanco's life. In addition to playing the lead role, Vergara was also an executive producer on the show.

It's Vergara's comeback role of sorts, after playing the much-loved Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on ABC's award-winning sitcom "Modern Family" for more than a decade. Vergara has been acting for over 30 years and is one of the highest-paid stars in the industry.

The 51-year-old actress has a net worth of about $180 million according to Celebrity Net Worth, thanks to her lucrative acting career and many business ventures, including a beauty brand, clothing line, endorsement deals, and more. Here's how Sofia Vergara made her millions.

Acting

Vergara is one of the highest-paid actresses in the industry, and has made millions from her successful roles on TV and film. Vergara topped Forbes' list of the highest-paid actresses five times in a row.

Vergara's breakout role in American media was on ABC's hit sitcom "Modern Family." The show, which aired on ABC for 11 seasons from 2009 to 2020, won 22 Emmy awards and one Golden Globe during its run. Vergara won two People's Choice Awards and an NAACP Image Award for her role as Gloria, and was nominated for four Emmys.

The actress made millions from "Modern Family." Vergara earned between $30,000 to $90,000 per episode for initial seasons of Modern Family, and went on to earn $170,000 to $180,000 per episode after a series of salary negotiations by Vergara and her fellow cast members, according to Deadline. Vergara was earning an estimated $500,000 per episode by Season 9—about $10 million total per season. The cast also negotiated to receive some of the back-end profits of the hit show.

Vergara has been a judge on the reality competition show "America's Got Talent" since 2015. The actress reportedly earns eight figures every year for her role as a judge (that's at least $10 million), according to Forbes.

Vergara also has starred in many films that have grossed millions at the box office, including "The Smurfs," "The Emoji Movie," "New Year's Eve," and "Chef."

Endorsement Deals

Vergara has had many lucrative endorsement deals with major brands over the years. She's appeared in ads for brands ranging from Quaker Oats, to SharkNinja's (SN) Ninja kitchenware, State Farm, Comcast (CMCSA), CoverGirl, Diet Pepsi (PEP), AT&T (T), and more.

Between 2011 and 2017, Vergara earned an estimated $157 million pretax, of which 60% came from endorsement and licensing deals, according to Forbes.

One of Vergara's longest partnerships has been with Proctor & Gamble's (PG) Head & Shoulders dandruff shampoo. She has represented the brand since 2013, when she signed a $4 million deal with the company, according to Celebrity Net Worth, that has featured her in many commercials for the brand.

Vergara has made $3.5 million from CoverGirl, $2.5 million from Comcast Xfinity, $3.5 million from State Farm, another $3.5 million from Diet Pepsi, and $2.75 million from AT&T, among other deals, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Vergara has licensing deals where she earns a royalty fee and earns a percentage of the revenue after selling a certain number of products, according to Forbes. The actress made seven figures annually from a deal like this with retailer Kmart, where she had her own clothing line from 2011 to 2015. In 2013, Vergara also had a licensing deal with furniture company Rooms To Go, where she had her own collection of furniture that was sold across the company's 150 showrooms in the U.S.

Businesses

Besides being a successful and award-winning actress, Vergara is also a savvy entrepreneur and investor.

Vergara has her own line of jeans, Sofia Jeans, sold exclusively at Walmart (WMT). In 2018, the actress also co-founded a line of underwear, EBY, which also gives 10% of net sales to the microfinancing organization Seven Bar, which helps women start businesses. The company secured a $6 million investment during a Series A funding round in 2021.

In 2023, Vergara also launched her own makeup brand, Toty. The brand is expected to bring in $5 million to $10 million in sales during its first year, industry sources told WWD.

Vergara co-founded Latin World Entertainment (LWE), a media and entertainment company that specializes in talent management, production, and licensing and has a partnership with Walmart and other brands. On the production side, "Griselda" was one of LWE's most recent projects, among other Spanish and English language productions.
