Alien 8 - Ultimate Play the Game Classic is coming to the C64!

Possibly the last post of the day unless something major comes out, but we have recently been contacted by Artur Bujdoso of a new C64 port that he is currently working on at this very moment. This port is none other than Alien-8, which was originally developed by the legends that is Ultimate Play the Game for the ZX Spectrum, BBC Micro, Amstrad CPC and MSX. To coincide with this news, the person behind the port has released a very early teaser footage, which is based on the BBC Micro version but as of yet has no sounds!

Amiga forum user offers £400 for Stunt Car Racer at 50/60 frames per second!

In the late 80's, Geoff Crammond with publishing rights by MicroStyle/MicroPlay released the incredible game of ' Stunt Car Racer ' for a multitude of platforms including the Amiga. It involved you the player racing around a 3D track in a first person view using a vehicle which had boost capabilities. It was also one of the greatest racing games ever released and what made it so great was the fact that all of the tracks were like rollercoasters, with such dangerous driving and incredible heights involved it would've killed anyone if it was real life. But this month as a bit of a shock, a member by the name of Twinbee has set out a challenge with a high £400 payment to anyone that can tweak the original code to run at 50/60fps!

Don't Crawl - Duo control retro inspired platformer needs your Greenlight votes

You probably read my earlier post about people being a bit bored of platformers, but hear me out. 'Don't Crawl' which is going through a Steam Greenlight campaign isn't your average platformer, unlike the finish the level by jumping over enemies and picking up items along the way style of game, this one is not only retro inspired but it features a two player hero and enemy control system. One player controls the hero who tries to beat the levels whereas the other one takes control of the monsters and tries to kill the hero and then take their place!

A Prelude to Chaos - A ZX Spectrum homebrew appears on the Amstrad CPC

Last year Egotrip released the ZX Spectrum adventure/puzzle game of ' A Prelude to Chaos ', which is once again available but this time for the Amstrad CPC. Developed using AGD but as a far bigger and more complex game than his earlier ZX Spectrum variant, you need to collect all the energy jewels scattered around the map. But be warned there are various obstacles to hinder your progress, especially enemies that when touched will cause you a lot of pain.

Frank N Stein - Langford Productions new PC remake of a ZX Spectrum classic

We've just received word from our good friend Richard of Langford Productions, of a new PC remake that has since been released! From the creator of other remakes such as Cookie, Pssst, The Hunch and many others, this is a PC remake of the ZX Spectrum game ' Frank N Stein ', which was originally released way back in 1984 for the Amstrad CPC and ZX Spectrum by Personal Software Services.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - Lucasfilm Games Adventure C64 port gets an update!

Last year we gave you the special heads up news of the C64 work in progress adventure port of the classic game "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade ", which appeared on the Amiga, PC, Atari ST and Mac. Well fast forward to today and we've just been told by Retro Nerd, that Brick Bami has finally released a new in development tease that shows a number of improvements over from the previous video. Frogger II - Three Deep +4D - Hokuto Force trainers another popular classic!

While we wait for the upcoming Arcade C64 remake of Konami's 1981 Arcade classic of Frogger. The scene guru's Hokuto Force have recently released Frogger II - Three Deep +4D for the C64. Originally developed by the Parker Brothers and published by Sega Enterprises in 1984, Frogger II is the sequel to the first game and although it features very similar gameplay with your Frog character having to reach the top of the screen with each berth, this one features three consecutive screens for each level rather than one per level.

A big Kickstarter success and further development through Early Access, GRIM DAWN is a top quality Action RPG that will keep you hooked for hours! Case and point I'm currently level 35 and I still can't put the game down! So head on over to GOG and buy it at 10% off!

Brutal Doom 64 - Enhanced Doom 64 gets new alpha footage!

Throughout last year and into this one, we've been featuring many of SGtMarkIV's release updates for Brutal Doom, which as we said before was pretty much the bloodiest Doom mod we've come across, with more gibs and guts than you could ever need in a first person shooter. But now after some hinting, the same creator has moved onto ' Brutal Doom 64 ', which according to SGt, "revitalizes the old Doom 64 with new special effects, particles, lightning, gore, new sounds, more weapon animations (shotgun reloads, smoother minigun barrels, etc.) and monsters and stuff cut from the original Nintendo 64 version". To coincide with this news, a new alpha footage tease has been released, and from what we've seen looks rather good!

Although it was said to be coming to these systems before it wasn't until this month that the developers officially announced the game was working on real hardware with just 2 MB of RAM!

Treasure Island Dizzy - Sam Coupe WIP version gets a gameplay footage update

Last year I gave you the heads up for a new work in progress port of the classic The Oliver Twins game ' Treasure Island Dizzy ', which is coming to the Sam Coupe. Currently in development by Adrian Brown, this version is being reverse engineered from the Amiga with inclusive graphics and maps that have been extracted into the Sam Coupe system. As of today the developer has released an updated work in progress footage which shows improvements over the Amiga version including scrolls that unroll and roll up like the ZX Spectrum and something else was also added which you need to see for yourself.

The Works of Mercy - Be a Killer in this gory Kickstarter success

Whenever a game is announced by PlayWay, especially as a Kickstarter, it always ends up as a success, this was true for Hard West, The Way and now with 4 days to go, it is the same for ' The Works of Mercy '. Now putting aside the more softly approach with those games, the developer Pentacle supported by the publishers PlayWay, has gone all out with this one, as it is a psychological thriller inspired by the classics of the genre: Roman Polanski’s “Repulsion,” “The Tenant” and Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining.” Which means yes you guessed it, BLOODY HORROR! Not just any horror either as the games plot revolves around mysterious killings committed on seemingly random victims. Only this time it is the player who becomes the murderer!

The Last Door Season 2 Collectors Edition - Impressive Adventure horror coming March 29th!

When I first played The Last Door Season 1 via GOG, I was taken back by just how good the game was, not only did it have that Sierra style graphics and point and click interface, but the story and horror just blew me away. It is not often that a game pulls me in that much and gives me the creeps while doing so but The Last Door certainly did just that. On the relevance to the game, both Phoenix Online Publishing and The Game Kitchen have announced that the hit indie point-and-click horror adventure The Last Door Season 2 Collector’s Edition will be releasing on March 29, 2016 for PC, Mac, and Linux.
