Loom review - An all time classic Adventure game reviewed by DarkwyndPT

Wow, almost a month without posting anything! Again, I apologise for the lack of posts and reviews. My professional life has a way of slowly taking over my personal life, which includes all my hobbies (but someone has to pay the bills!) But now I’m back and to make up for my absence, let’s review one of my favourite graphic adventures of all times, Loom.

Rygar AGA - Tecmo's Arcade game as an Amiga port looks better than ever!

On the 23rd of December 2018, we surprised the community with an announcement that Tecmo's 1986 Arcade game of ' Rygar the Legendary Warrior ', was unofficially coming to the Amiga after having been released on many different systems including the C64 and ZX Spectrum. Well fast forward to today and there's been some incredible news. As Graeme Cowie has just announced, his in-development Amiga AGA port of that fantastic game now features playable demo rounds from 1 to 6!

PONG 4K - A wicked Amiga CD32 Pong stye game now as a boxed edition

In the 1970's Bushnell and another guy called Alcorn released a Pong prototype at a local bar named Andy Capp's Tavern, yet it wasn't until 1975 and through a long history that Pong actually appeared in our homes, and on my very own Atari 2600. Thankfully others see Pong as a truely great game for its time and still loved to this day, as next month (June), Cobe, Koyot1222 and Goatmare will be releasing a boxed CD32 edition of their previous release as PoNG4K; a multiplayer Pong that's more than just a clone!

Hunter TC - Action/Adventure classic total conversion for GZdoom (Doom port) teased

Let's go back in time, right back to 1991 when Activsion released 'Hunter' for the Amiga and Atari ST. An action-adventure game that by today's view point would be classed as a Battlefield 4, Grand Theft Auto and Far Cry mix. Expansive, open worlds, a military theme, and the focus on small squads of soldiers or lone heroes. Well if you remember this fine game, then you'll be pleased to know Cherno was working on a total conversion based on the 1991 Amiga game, but instead using GZdoom which in-itself is a Doom port.

GoADF - A fantastic piece of Amiga software your Amiga will thank you for!

The Amiga community is incredibly strong at the moment, sporting not just new games and new hardware, but the odd Kickstarter has also appeared which makes our computers really stand out branding new colours and fancy LED lights. But now we look towards a kickass piece of software for our Amiga goodness, as we've just been told by Bitplan Krzysztof Donat, that he has launched GoADF:  a fabulous new program that does more than just support ADF files (Floppy Files)

Antstream - A retro game streaming subscription service is a Kickstarter success

Great news if you were supporting the Antstream Kickstarter; a crowd funding campaign for a retro gaming based streaming service. SkillGrid - A wicked AGA Shoot em up released for the Commodore Amiga

Even more Amiga news for this week and one I think you'll agree is pretty damn awesome! Rygar AGA - Tecmo's Arcade game as an upcoming Amiga port looks better than ever

Well fast forward to today and Mcgeezer has just teased a brand new work in progress video, which shows not just how far development has come, but also the developer discusses the latest bug fixes in his upcoming Amiga port of Rygar.

Lumberjack Platform - Tree chopping Amiga game is now a charming platformer!

Some time back we mentioned Megastyle & Protovision's C64 homebrew game of ' Lumberjack ', which put you in the mighty boots of a Lumberjack, chopping down trees as fast as he can, without being bashed by the big branches above. It was a highly addictive game on the C64 that was later ported over to the Amiga as a fantastic enhanced version thanks to Cobe and Lemming880. So why are we mentioning this awesome game again? Well as of today you can play Lumberjack Platform; a new Amiga platformer based around that very enjoyable title, with design by Lemming880, graphics by Koyot1222, support by Cobe and music by Tommy/Android.

Revision 2019 was incredible, and EON on the Amiga blew us away!

This weekend I was watching the latest Amiga intro's from creators around the world being shown at the Revision 2019 demo party. This is a place that features lots of competitions, events, music acts, seminar's and much more that makes it the place to be to see some of the most jaw dropping creations, such as this one from The Black Lotus. The name of this brilliant piece of work, is none other than ' EON ' for the Amiga. An incredible demo showing, which makes it even more amazing is the fact it was running on a Commodore Amiga 500!

Cyberwolf - Super smooth Amiga first person shooter preview

BioJet wasn't the only game to came back to this Monday afternoon, as Saberman was also kind enough to tell us about the latest preview release of Cyberwolf, which was shown off at the Revision 2019 demoscene event.  This Amiga game with development by britelite, bracket, dodke, spiikki, oasiz and chb/kalms, is a first person shooter that at its current stage of development, is very unomptimized and may bevave weird on anything else than a regular A500 without accelerator!

BioJet - Flying platformer as a first release for the Amiga community!

On our return to writing game news, Saberman was kind enough to send us some Amiga updates, as he has just told us Roy Schneider and team have released the flying platformer of BioJet. Now if you've not heard of this game before, that's because it was only just released on the Aminet file website, and is using the graphics of a previous game called Cybergene. Which was released on the MS-DOS platform in 1997 as a project drawn on serveral Amiga's.

External CD drive for the Amiga 1200? Take my money now!

Another top quality announcement has hit our inbox, as moments ago we found out through the Commodore Amiga Facebook group, that a developer by the name of Marc G. Falconer is working on an external CD based device for the Commodore Amiga! Yes indeed with the unreleased CD1200 not making an appearance in our homes and hacking the internal Amiga not to everyones liking. Marc G. Falconer aims to please with his external CD Drive through IDE and custom based case.

Sardonic - Another arcade shooter appears on the Amiga!

We are not finished with the Amiga news yet! As moments ago we were told that *ahem* Penisoft had released their Amiga game of ' Sardonic ', which looks to be a remake of a PC game they released way back in 2003. Now unlike the other game we featured previously, this one is a top scrolling shoot em up by MADAXE, and features music by FRED as both OCS/ECS and AGA versions requiring 1MB Chipram.

RiverRaid Reloaded - A new River Raid clone released for the Amiga

While many of you are probably enjoying Project R3D's River Raid style game of ' Bridge Strike ', you might also interested to know that as of today Alpha One has released his River Raid clone of ' RiverRaid Reloaded ', which has been released for the Commodore Amiga. Now if you've not heard of this classic game before, that's because it was originally released in 1982 for the Atari 2600, and then ported over to many different systems such as the C64 and ZX Spectrum as a game viewed from a top-down perspective, flying a fighter jet over the River of No Return in a raid behind enemy lines.

As someone who is a huge retro gamer going right back to the late 70's with an Atari 2600, an Amstrad, C64, ZX Spectrum, Amiga and pretty much every other system you could think of at my disposal at one point or another through the years. I was pleasantly surprised to come across a retro gaming streaming service that had just appeared via Kickstarter, that could be a very good addition to my playtime other than real hardware or preference installed emulators. Titled as Antstream and developed as the brainchild of CEO Steve Cottam and inspired by his involvement in 3DO development, this service features a lovingly curated selection of games from a catalogue of thousands of fully licensed titles!
