Dragon Spirit SE - The first of many enhanced-tweaked Amiga games

It's the end of the week and nearly into the weekend so what better way to spend it, than playing another Earok tweaked or enhanced Amiga game known as ' Dragon Spirit SE '. This game was first released way back in 1987 by Namco as a top scrolling Dragon shoot em up and was ported over to many different systems such as the Amstrad CPC, Commodore Amiga, Commodore 64, DOS, Atari ST, X68000, PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 and ZX Spectrum. Earok however has taken the original Amiga version, fixed both the Atari ST palette issues as well as minifying the Dragon that previously obscured part of the playfield, although he hasn't been able to improve the performance of the game because it still remains poor.

A bit of a late one for Indie Retro News but it just had to be spread far and wide, as Amiga Jay has released the 'Factor 5 The Complete Amiga Works - an unofficial Amiga CD32 release'. This could well be the highlight of Amiga Jay's compilation packs, as it features many of Factor 5's incredible games that most of us still play and talk about to this day. Games such as R-Type, Turrican, Turrican II and Turrican 3. But other games are also included like B.C Kid, Denaris, Katakis and Tony & Friends in Kellogg's Land. That's 8 incredible games you'll be playing again and again on your Amiga CD32!

Catacomb 3D series and Keen Dreams - DOS based games coming over to the Amiga

From 1991 and onwards ID Software with publishing rights by Softdisk Publishing released the first person shooter game Catacomb 3-D : The Descent as a prototype of the Wolfenstein 3D engine. It was released as an EGA title for PC DOS as a dark fantasy style game, with the player controlling a Wizard named as ' Petton Everhail ' on a quest to defeat the evil lich Nemesis through a number of catacomb's. Although it was regarded as a landmark title for its time for first person graphics, it is now being ported over to the Amiga with a number of other games also in the pipeline such as the lost episode of classic platformer Commander Keen ' Keen Dreams '.

Racing games such as the incredible Super Cars series and Micro Machines to name but a few. As for the other games, they include, Max Rally, Champion Driver, Overdrive, Nitro, Turbo Trax, Roadkill and Super Grand Prix, that's 11 games in all to keep you busy through the week!

Center Court 2 - Unreleased Amiga game is found and finally released

A bit of a late one this and one not to be missed, as after being informed by DamienD, we have learnt of an old Amiga game called ' Center Court 2 ' that was originally unreleased, is now available to the public. This Amiga game was actually authored by SecondService in the late 90's and had remained in an unfinished state on a harddrive that had become defective. Thanks to a member by the name of Python1 and eggman who then had the hard drive in their possession, the game was finally rescued from its corrupt state on the 9th of July.

Football Fever - Footy bonanza on the Amiga CD32 from Amiga Jay!

I'll be straight with you right now, I can't stand football, I never liked it as a kid and I don't like watching it as an adult, even if it is currently Euro 2016. However there were some retro games that I did enjoy playing during my much younger years, and those were Sensible Soccer and Kick Off 2! They were no Fifa's, but playing them on the Amiga was so much fun and just perfect for ball kicking against a friend, without the thuggish behavior of a day out at the local stadium. Today's news though doesn't just give you Sensible Soccer and Kick Off 2, but many other football games which have all been put together on a rather entertaining Amiga CD32 release; ' Football Fever ' by Amiga Jay and team!

Banshee - An epic shoot em up from the Amiga for your PC & MAC!

If you want to play one of the best Amiga shooters ever released that required the AGA hardware, then you can do no wrong by playing this PC/MAC package of the high quality shoot em up, ' Banshee '.  Originally released by Core Design in 1994 for the Amiga and later the Amiga CD32, this is a high grade blaster that has fantastic animations, visual effects, great graphical design and fab sound effects. In fact, it's so good, that if you ever see an original version in good condition, just BUY IT! To coincide with this teaser info, Gamesnostalgia has unofficially released this game for more modern systems, pre-configured using FS-UAE.

Amiga CD32 owners rejoice! WALKER is now on the Amiga CD32!

Of all the games to be pushed onto the Amiga CD32 that I just can't wait to play, has to be the "bloody" fine game ' WALKER', which today has been converted over by Earok and team to the CD32. This incredible action packed shooter by DMA Design/Psygnosis, which was released way back in 1993, puts you and possibly a friend in control of a giant walker like machine, through multiple time periods blasting both man and vehicle to pieces with a very powerful gun.

Hunter CD32 - 25th Anniversary Edition - Action/Adventure classic from 1991 is now fully playable on the Amiga CD32!

As I finish up for the big move, I thought it would be worthwhile to mention Amiga Jay's latest release for the Amiga CD32. This is none other than the classic game 'Hunter'; an action-adventure game from 1991 by Activision that by today's standards would be classed as a Battlefield 4, Grand Theft Auto and a Far Cry mix. Expansive, open worlds, a military theme, and the focus on small squads of soldiers or lone heroes. A high grade 3D game with sandbox-type game play, developed by Paul Holmes and music by Martin Walker.

Ye Olde Pirate Collection - The best Yarrr Amiga CD32 release by Amiga Jay!

For awhile now we've been featuring both Earok and Amiga Jay's Amiga CD32 gaming releases. There have been many titles announced, such as well known games that have never been on the Amiga CD32 to complete collections such as the more recent Team 17 pack. Well today we've got another special for you, and this one was done as a personal request from myself, which Amiga Jay was happy to oblige in the 'Ye Olde Pirate Collection'. If you love Pirate games, no not the ones you illegally acquire, but proper Pirate ship sailing ones, then this is the collection for you!

An Amiga week full of surprises! - Mr Nutz, Team 17 and WinUAE

It's always the way isn't it, whenever you take time off either through illness or like last week a much needed break, along comes a news story that makes you feel a bit down beat that you didn't get it done. So what better way to make up for that, than to mention not just one Amiga news story, but three! An Amiga CD32 release from Earok and team ' Mr Nutz ', Team 17 : The Complete Amiga Works by AmigaJay, and a new Amiga emulator beta version ' WinUAE 3.3.0 beta 11 ' from Toni Wilen.

Tanks Furry - Tank based shooter for the Amiga gets an update and Amiga CD32 release!

During last week and into this weekend, Amiga gamers across the globe were shouting to the hill tops that they had finally received the most eagerly awaited of commercial Amiga games ' Tanks Furry ', developed by PROJECT R3D. It was a game that was originally teased at the retrokomp 2015 and came second place much to the delight of the developers. Well fast forward to now and this rather delightful game featuring hand made school pixel graphics, a dedicated chip tune and sfx, over 40 missions to play, several themed zones such as woodlands and deserts, five different tanks and even multiplayer. Doesn't just have a lovely commercial package, but you can play the updated free 1.2 version with a trainer thanks to Flashtro, and the Amiga CD32 version thanks to Earok and team.

Giana Sisters: Special Edition - Enhanced edition for the Amiga teased

What a fantastic news story to end the week as we have just been told through our Commodore Amiga Facebook group, that the very well known platformer of 'Great Giana Sisters', from 1987, is getting a slight overhaul for the Amiga and will be called ' Giana Sisters: Special Edition '.Many of you already know of this game by now especially Amiga and C64 owners but this game has huge similarities to Super Mario and as such way back in the 80's also had an alleged lawsuit case against them from Nintendo. So don't be too surprised to find an original game selling at a high price on Ebay, if you have one in your collection it could almost be worth a second hand car. (Read on for what's new! )
