Cookie - A veritable kitchen nightmare comes to C64


Having never owned a Speccy, I'm unfamiliar with "Cookie", however it seems to have had a decent following amongst our 8bit cousins, and now C64 fans get to find out why (without having to pollute their hard disk with a Spectrum emulator). Our friends at Reset Magazine posted yesterday that Cookie has been re-written from scratch for C64, and it is developer Andy Noble's first game this system, having ported many other retro games for windows and mac. It's a really nice conversion of the original and it's free to download right now.

The Amstrad is back in the news and no this isn't just about one game, as this week there was an announcement for the #CPCRetroDev 2017 - Amstrad CPC Game Creation Contest that will be live streamed for the award ceremony held on next Friday, 10th of November! Sophia - A ZX Spectrum game for Halloween is now available


Even more Halloween goodness as we've come across another announcement on Facebook, that Alessandro Grussu's game of ' Sophia ', has been released for the ZX Spectrum and is available for all to play right now! This game which was developed using Arcade Game Designer puts you in control of a little master wizard called Sophia, on a mission to save the empire from destruction and humanity from enslavement.

Mighty Final Fight - A special Demake announced for the ZX Dev2017 compo!


The ZX Dev competition is really heating up now especially with games such as Gandalf, Starforce/Megaforce, Saving Kong and Gimmick! Yumetaro Odyssey, all aiming for a percentage of that massive prize 741€ and a cassette of Thrust for the ZX Spectrum. But today as a heads up via our Twitter page, sanchez has announced for the ZX-Dev Conversions compo he is doing a "demake" of the Final Fight NES spin off game as Mighty Final Fight!

Chibi Akumas Episode 2: Confrontation! - An Amstrad bullet hell shooter gets a bigger sequel


Towards the end of last year, a very weird homebrew appeared and that was a bullet hell shooter known as ' Chibi Akuma(s) ' developed by Keith56 for the Amstrad CPC. It was a crazy shooter with bullets appearing at you from all sides through 5 levels of extreme fire power and deadly end level bosses as you played as Chibiko in her unholy battle against an invasion. That game which drove most of us insane is about to go even further, as today the developer has released the sequel called Chibi Akumas Episode 2: Confrontation!

Pumpkin Poe - Jet Set Willy style ZX Spectrum fairy tale platformer gets a release!


This is Halloween, this is Halloween, Pumpkins scream in the dead of night! Yes that's right it's nearly Halloween with the day to come tomorrow, so as a heads up by Program Bytes 48k, a special release has come out for the ZX Spectrum called ' Pumpkin Poe '; a Jet Set Willy style ZX Spectrum fairy tale platformer developed by Ariel Endaraues, AGD by Jonathan Cauldwell, and music by David Saphier!

Schütze Mike and the Treasure of the Inkas - Amiga game shown made in Backbone


Per-Ola Eriksson has been chucking game news at us again, as he has come across a rather interesting looking Amiga game called ' Schütze Mike and the Treasure of the Inkas ', which looks to be a work in progress and created by Steffen Baier(Reentier) using Backbone. Now if you look at the screen above your first thoughts would probably be Rick Dangerous, well if you watch the video it does have its similarities.

Space Hippies - Unreleased Amiga game makes an appearance!


Flashtro are on the ball today as not only did they come across an unreleased Amiga game called 'Space Hippies' that was programmed in 1992. It wasn't until WANTED TEAM provided the game plus source code, that Flashtro made available a nice FLASHTRO trainer for the recent find plus a palette fix that helps to spot the enemy bullets better! Now if you love your Space Invaders then read on, as this MIGHT be the game for you!

Alco-Copter - Puzzle based heli shooter for any Amiga +1MB Chip!


A lot of games to get through this evening for a Sunday bit of retro gaming, as we've been informed by Matthew Nolan, of the recent work in progress release of 'Alco-Copter' for the Amiga developed by our good friends Flashtro. Coming in as a multi-genre game with puzzle and shooting based elements, you control a helicopter that works purely on Alcohol that must complete each of the 6 preview levels without crashing into the sides or allowing your blood Alcohol level to drop too far.

External Visions - Demo released for team BitClub's upcoming Metroidvania


Most of us on Indie Retro News are huge fans of platformers, especially ones that are known as a Metroidvania, a sub-genre of an action adventure game, with concepts similar to Metroid and Castlevania hence the term. One such game that will appeal to you Metroidvanians is a game called ' External Visions ' by team BitClub. A new game that is in development with a recent demo, that takes the player through the life of an average man escaping his depression in an imaginary world he created around him.

Clash Force - 8-bit inspired run and gun appears on Steam

In the game you play as a member of the Clash Force, a weaponry force of stopping the Evil Crackman and his minions from causing mayhem. You'll fight through forest bases, hydrofied deserts, underground mines, and eventually to Crackman's Flying Fortress where the final battle will unfold!

Thy Sword - Tiny pixelated action platformer gets an early launch Trailer


Even more retro inspirations today and one that looks a lot more pixelated than Tower 57, is the upcoming hack n' slash platformer ' Thy Sword '  which not only had a successful Steam Greenlight campaign we've since been told the developers GamePhase have released a brand new launch Trailer to coincide with a possible November release! As noted by our previous write ups, Thy Sword draws its inspiration from Norse mythology with a touch of Conan the Barbarian, mixed up with great games such as Golden Axe, Moonstone and surprisingly enough Bubble Bobble.

Beams Of Light - Speccy Puzzler is ready for your enjoyment


Something for everyone this week as now we look towards the ZX Spectrum with a new game called ' Beams of Light ' developed by Shiny! Classed as a puzzler you are tasked with drawing beams of light from the left edge of the game to the right all the way through the crystals. Once that is achieved it's on to the next level of which there are 49 of them to entertain you through the evening.
