Rituraj Singh dies at 59. Manoj Baypayee to Sonu Sood, celebs mourn his death

TV actor Rituraj Singh died of cardiac arrest on February 20. He was 59. Many celebrities, like Manoj Bajpayee, Varun Dhawan, Hansal Mehta, Sonu Sood and Kavita Kaushik mourned his death on social media.

Rituraj Singh suffered a cardiac arrest at 12.30 am on February 20. He was also undergoing treatment for pancreas-related issues.

Manoj Bajpayee, who was Rituraj's friend and worked with him expressed his shock. "How can this be true Ritz? Why? Such a devastating news to wake up to! Rest in peace Rituraj my friend! Om Shanti."

Hansal Mehta who worked with Rituraj on the show 'K Street Pali Hill, also could not believe that the actor is no more. He wrote, "Rituraj!!!! Can’t believe this! I directed him briefly in a daily soap called K Street Pali Hill but in the process we became good friends. Been a while since we hung out but I have such fond memories. Untapped actor and a warm human. Gone suddenly and too early."

Sonu Sood mourned Rituraj's death on X (formerly Twitter).

Varun Dhawan, who had shared the screen with Rituraj in ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’, also condoled the death of the actor. Sharing a picture from the film, the actor wrote, "#rip Rituraj sir had such a wonderful time working with him and had just meet him few months back on the sets of 'Baby John'. Om Shanti."

Actor Divya Seth shared a throwback picture of herself with Rituraj, which also features Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjoy Roy as she bid adieu to her friend. Rituraj, SRK and Divya Seth were batchmates in Barry John's theatre group.

Director Vivek Agnihotri also took to X to mourn the loss of his friend. He wrote, "Rituraj, my friend, how did you make it even possible? “Kitna baaki thaâ€æ” Artists never die. Om Shanit."

Actor Kavita Kaushik, who worked with Rituraj in Ekta Kapoor's 'Kutum' wrote, "Amazing actor, crazy energy, life of a party , My screen father in Kutumb .. learnt so much from him .. Gone too soon Rituraj ... May you find peace and all that you were looking for in another world."

Actor Arshad Warsi, who was Rituraj's neighbour and had worked with him too, said that he lost a 'frend and great actor'. "I am so saddened to know that Ritu Raj passed away. We lived in the same building, he was a part of my first film as a producer. Lost a friend and a great actorâ€æ will miss you brother," read his tweet.

Rituraj Singh has worked both in television and films. He was recently seen in the popular TV show 'Anupamaa'. Singh has worked in several popular television shows, including 'Banegi Apni Baat', where he shared the screen space with Irrfan, Surekha Sikri and R Madhavan, among others. He was also seen in 'Kutumb', 'Ghar Ek Mandir', Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai', and 'Diya Aur Baati Hum' and many others.
