Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) has launched the fifth-generation of its bestselling scooter, Activa 5G automatic scooter. The Activa 5G was already unveiled at the 2018 Auto Expo held in February 2018. The scooter has now been launched at a price of Rs 52,460, ex-showroom, New Delhi. Bookings for the Activa 5G have already started and deliveries are slated to start soon.

Major changes on the Activa 5G are mostly cosmetic. The Activa gets a new LED headlamp with integrated DRLs. There are chrome garnishes across the front apron with 3D badges on the scooter. Honda has however retained the Activa core styling and conventional design. The Activa still gets an all-metal body and is available in two colours - Dazzle Yellow Metallic and Pearl Spartan Red which are now offered on the scooter.

The Activa gets a newly updated instrument cluster, which forms a part of the analogue-digital unit. The speedo continues to be analogue with fuel indicator and digital odometer. Other new features are a service reminder and an ECO mode which allows riders to maximise fuel efficiency. The under seat storage can now be accessed via the key slot integrated into the scooter's ignition key slot, and a double hook to carry more luggage on the footboard.

Mechanically, the Activa is the same as the 4G model which in comparison is not bad, considering the ride quality, engine refinement, and reliability the 4G model offers. The 110cc, four-stroke engine belts out a modest 8bhp of power and 9Nm of torque, enough to zip around city traffic, coupled with a CVT gearbox, rear monoshock, and a combi-brake system, makes it a delight to use.
