As protests take place all across the country following the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and more, people with platforms big and small are speaking out about the deaths of Black Americans at the hands of the police. This weekend, Christina Anstead joined many other celebrities in using her platform to share that she has no tolerance for racism.

Anstead reposted an image from Word Porn on Instagram that reads “Can we uninstall 2020 and install it again? This version has a virus." In her caption, she starts by asking what her followers think of everything that’s going on in the world. “I try and stay off social, because of the intense hate and negativity,” she wrote. “I feel this year has really divided people for a lot of different reasons and it’s brought out the worst in some people as well.”

“I am MORTIFIED by the recent events. What happened to George Floyd is devastating. I feel sad about a lot of things right now,” she continued. “I was raised by parents who taught me to be kind and to respect everyone and I have no tolerance for racism. 💔”

In the comments, some people criticize her post for centering on this year alone. "The division has been here, it's just now that people are aware because of cellphones and 24/7 news," one commenter wrote. "This is not new, this entire country needs a reboot."

"This racism virus has been around much longer than 2020," another commenter wrote.

Apart from her post, Anstead has commented on other posts fellow HGTV stars have made concerning racism in the American justice system. On Jonathan Scott's latest Instagram post in response to George Floyd's death, he calls for everyone to stand up against inequality and stay informed. "Well said ♥️," Anstead commented.

Meanwhile, Anstead's ex-husband, Tarek El Moussa, took it a step further, explicitly calling for the arrest of all officers present at the time of Floyd's murder. (So far only one has been arrested, charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter). "All the officers that witnessed this should be held accountable. They should be put in prison for the maximum term," he writes. "Real prison time and real consequences."
