Hammers boss David Moyes will be desperate to add at least one top class striker to his ranks at the London Stadium this summer.

The East London outfit need more competition and cover for Michail Antonio next season.

And it seems as though West Ham could be looking at a La Liga swoop this summer.

Fichajes claims that Villarreal hitman Paco Alcacer is on the Hammers’ radar ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old Spaniard joined the La Liga outfit from Borussia Dortmund in January 2020.

Alcacer has racked up 14 goals and six assists in 42 games for Villarreal so far (Transfermarkt).

West Ham signing Paco Alcacer a wise move?

He possesses undoubted quality, and his nouse and know-how in and around the penalty area would offer the Hammers a totally different edge to their attacking play.

The 19-capped Spain international has wonderful vision, and an impeccable first touch. He also possesses the enviable talent of being able to time his runs in behind the opposition defence to perfection.

This particular skill would provide Moyes’s side with an alternative option to Michail Antonio next season.

Alcacer could be available for around €25 million (£22 million) this summer according to a report from Fichajes.

In truth, that price-tag seems to be rather excessive considering the fact that the Spaniard is far from prolific.

Perhaps West Ham would be better served in trying to sign a centre-forward who is more versed in putting the ball in the back of the net.

Having said that, Alcacer would not be a bad signing for the Hammers by any means.
