"You're...you. You make me hot, you make me laugh, and you make me angry. You look at me with those emerald eyes, and all I want to see is happiness inside them. You confuse me, you arouse me, you make me want to be better."The secondary characters were as good. We see a bit of the other couples from the previous books but also Dallas, my favorite little semi-human. Like I said, I absolutely adored his friendship with Devyn! So cute.
"You're scary, you know that?" Dallas said with quiet affection. And then Hector and McKell. Oh yes, I am hooked! I can't wait to read their books and to learn more about them. I loved both of them but especially McKell...I mean, sexy, mysterious vampire warrior?!? Sign me in!
"I know. It's hardly fair to others that I'm a triple threat. Pretty and talented."
"That's only two, moron."
"I thought it'd be rude to mention my cock."
"You would never have to wonder about my affections," McKell said, keeping pace at Bride's other side. "Since I began my search for you, I have given myself to no one."The storyline was so great, I love romance and I absolutely need it in a book but a good plot is important and Gena is a master at combining the two and making the perfect book. I couldn't put the book down, I needed to know what was going to happen next. There was a lot going on and yet, it was all well structured and I was not once lost or confused.
“I do my best thinking in bed. You?"
She laughed; she just couldn't help herself. The man was incorrigible. "Another thing we have in common. Thinking in bed. Alone."
Devyn, King of the Targons, is not my usual kind of book boyfriend. He’s conceited, pretty much a narcissist and has sex on the brain CONSTANTLY. His mission in life is basically to sleep with every kind of female breed there is seeing as he’s a collector of women. But his wicked flirting is SO very funny and when he decides he’s your friend, his loyalty is amazing because he’ll pretty much murder anyone who is a threat to you, which made me like him. To be honest I had trouble with him in the beginning of this book, men who buy women at slave auctions are pretty much scum in my book, and the way he used his power on Bride upset me, however he did change the more he was around Bride and THAT made me love him in the end.
"You are the most egotistical man I've ever met." Even as she spoke, her gaze dropped to his lips, lingering ... savoring? "It's beyond frustrating. I don't know how to deal with you."
"Should I pretend I'm ugly?"
His heroine is gorgeous vampire Bride McKells and I really liked her. For eighty years she’s been alone, with only one friend that was lost to her years ago, and she’s desperately trying to find more of her kind and her missing friend. I loved how disinterested Bride was at first with Devyn and how she didn’t lose all her self-worth like most females does around him. Although she did fall into bed with him quickly, which I would have preferred took longer.

Of course with Devyn and his outrageous personality, their romance was very entertaining and I laughed many times. As I said I had some difficulties liking Devyn in the beginning but their romance definitely picked up near the half-way mark, with him so fascinated by her and how protective he became over her. I also appreciated that there was no one else for him since meeting her.
This is such an excellent PNR series with the otherworlders and humans trying to live on the Earth they had almost destroyed in their war. Things are also getting more interesting with the new alien race, the Schön, who are trying to infect everyone and turn them into cannibals. A definitely must read for all PNR fans.
