Jennifer Lawrence, an Oscar-winning actress who's had no shortage of incredible roles, recently lamented during a roundtable with The Hollywood Reporter that there was one coveted part she was keen on landing that never panned out: Her good friend Emma Stone's leading turn as Olive Penderghast in Easy A.
The two actresses—along with a group of other inimitable Hollywood women in the roundtable—joked about Lawrence's bad luck when the interviewer posed the question, "What's a line from your movies that has stuck with you long after the filming concluded?"
"'Piss off, Quiznos.' That's from Easy A. I shove a Quiznos guy and say, 'Piss off, Quiznos,'" Stone joked. To which Lawrence responded: "I auditioned for Easy A. I wanted it so bad." Stone, ever the supportive friend, then interjected with, "Well, guess what? You didn't get it. You didn't get it because you suck!" But Lawrence still managed to get the final word in: "Outside!" And the rest is history. Kidding, the interview continued on. (Oh, and if you're curious about Lawrence's answer to the original question, it was "You are not a stand-up guy" from Silver Linings Playbook.)
Weirdly enough, this is the second revelation this fall of Lawrence trying, and failing, to obtain a role that would later turn out to be iconic. She also auditioned to play Serena van der Woodsen in Gossip Girl. Of course, we all know who that ended up going to, ahem, Blake Lively. “We did not realize this at the time, but Jennifer Lawrence really wanted to play Serena and auditioned," Gossip Girl creator Josh Schwartz explained. “This story came to us secondhand, but we were told she definitely auditioned and was bummed to not get it.”
Still, given she's Jennifer Lawrence, she's doing just fine.
