Gino Afable • UX Designer

Gino Afable is a Senior User Experience Designer based in New York City.

Gino has over 10 years of experience in different design disciplines including information design, data visualization, human-centered design, and UX.

Designing data-heavy applications for an education data warehousing and software company has led him to find that data visualization and UX design interest him the most. He designed interfaces, brands, and other products for a diverse clientele in the Philippines including the biggest telecommunication companies in his country. He was also a teacher lecturing on software operation and introduction to graphic design and information design.

Today he designs experiences across different industries such as financial services, network visibility and security, life-sciences contracting and pricing, time and expense tracking, HSA machine learning software, archive discovery, and much more. He helps clients by designing solutions that bring business value using design discovery (Ethnographic User Study, Heuristic Evaluation, etc), design strategy (Workflow-modeling, Information  Architecture, etc), and finally, design execution (UI-Design and Prototyping, User  Testing,  etc.). He maintains great and enjoyable client relationships, regularly mentors junior designers, and leads a plethora of design topics through discussions and presentations.

From designing experiences and interfaces to appreciating well-designed doors and faucets, he believes that design has a place in everything, most especially as a means to improve lives and finding solutions to problems. Gino graduated from Ateneo de Manila University, one of the most prestigious universities in the Philippines, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, majoring in Information Design.

In his down time he loves to paint digitally, appreciate great design in video games, and loves to annoy his friends with unsolicited lectures on badly designed everyday things.
