Badge of the 39 Service BattalionBlazonArgent a cougar’s face in the Coast Salish style Sable embellished Gules, in base a bar wavy Azure; SymbolismThe cougar is commonly found throughout British Columbia, where the unit is based. Its head is rendered in a Coast Salish style to honour the first inhabitants of the region. A cougar’s head can also be found on the badge of the 39 Canadian Brigade Group, to which the battalion provides combat service support. The wavy band represents the Strait of Georgia, between Vancouver Island and the mainland coast of British Columbia. Wavy bands are also found on the arms of the province as well as on badges from units that were amalgamated to form the new battalion. |
