Roma is the latest Italian club to be investigated for financial impropriety. In April 2023, the headquarters of Roma, Lazio, and Salernitana were raided over speculation of falsifying transfer documents between 2017 and 2021. Just a few months before, Juventus was hit with a points deduction after team President Andrea Agnelli resigned. It has been reported that the investigation is looking into transfer dealings made under the direction of former owner James Pallotta and current owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin.
