He was born on Aug. 2, 1945, in Mondovi to Raymond and Mildred (Hartung) Schuch. In 1964, he graduated from Mondovi High School. Dick served his country in the Red Arrow Division of the Army National Guard from 1966 to 1972. On Aug. 30, 1969, he married Sandra Timm. For 36_ years, he worked at Cascade Tissue in Eau Claire. He retired from there in March 2006.
Dick was a member of Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church and the Mondovi Conservation Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son, especially the fishing on Marshmiller Lake. After fishing he liked to smoke the fish, which he then shared with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Schuch, of Eleva; one son, Brady Schuch, of Eleva; six brothers and sisters, Jerome (Zona) Schuch of Oshkosh, Bernice (Glen) Fedie of Mondovi, Eileen (Gary) Fahnel of Durand, Duane Schuch of Durand (friend, Theresa Ableidinger), Dennis (Sharon) Schuch of Whitehall and Douglas Schuch of Whitehall (friend, Sharon Hizer); 20 nieces and nephews; 52 great-nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three great-nieces; and one great-nephew.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2007, at Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church in rural Eleva, with the Rev. William Wendt officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery, where the flag will be presented by Eleva American Legion Post 459.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home in Mondovi, and one hour before services at the church on Thursday.
