Privacy: One step at a time – in the EU and beyond. By Amelia Andersdotter, Technical consultant at ARTICLE 19
Amelia is currently engaged as a consultant with human rights group ARTICLE19, working on design choices in technical standards with an impact on human rights. She has been a member of the European Parliament between 2011 and 2014, focusing on telecommunications policy, data protection, intellectual property rights and standardisation of technology. Since 2015 she operates the Swedish NGO Dataskydd.net, making data protection in Sweden easy in law and in practice for individuals in Sweden. Additionally, she has been a guest researcher on cyber security and consumer rights at the Centre for Internet and Society in Bangalore, India, where she is currently a fellow. She contributes op-eds to three Swedish publications since 2017 and holds a BSc in mathematics from Lund University.
