Andy Garcia, Prominent Cuban American for Facts About Cuban Exiles

Andy García’s first break as an actor came as a gang member in the first episode of Hill Street Blues (1981). He eventually was cast in The Untouchables (1987) and in The Godfather III (1990). García starred and directed the movie For Love of Country: the Arturo Sandoval story. It was based on the true story of Sandoval’s career, his eventual flight to the United States with his family, and the unexpected roadblocks that nearly prevented him from becoming a naturalized American citizen. García, the most recognized Cuban film actor in the world, is active in Cuba’s plight. He organized a march in Los Angeles in 2011 in support of the Ladies in White, who were being victimized in Cuba for demanding the freedom of their political prisoners.
