ToeJam & Earl are now available in Mighty Fight Federation with Yooka-Laylee coming soon

It's not every day we get to see a fighter with three legs

ToeJam & Earl are quite the oddball tag-team duo though I never though I would have lived to see the day where the pair would end up as fighting game characters — yet here we are.

The developers at Komi Games recently updated Mighty Fight Federation to add ToeJam & Earl as a playable fighter along with a new stage that fits their Sega Genesis days quite perfectly.

As for how they actually appear in battle, these alien stars actually do indeed play as a tag team force with players controlling one at a time and seemingly swapping between the two for combo extensions and whatever else they have up their sleeve.

Earl is obviously the heavy hitter of the bunch smacking around his enemies with a belly slam, punches and the ability to make elevators pop out of the ground while ToeJam is much lighter on his feet and has a giant record area of effect attack.

This new update also came packing a bunch of other changes and improvements to the game including better rollback netcode, new jump cancel options and some balance changes.

ToeJam & Earl may seem like an odd choice considering their most notable games released in the early '90s, however, they did receive a sequel earlier last year in Back in the Groove! to bring them into the era of 3D and HD.

Mighty Fight Federation is an arena fighter that takes heavy inspiration from the likes of Power Stone while also infusing the gameplay with tons of combo potential and juggles. The game is currently in early access on Steam though is scheduled for a full release this September along with console versions on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.

Komi Games say their next update to Mighty Fight Federation will include another platforming duo in Yooka and Laylee though no date was given at this time.

You can find the full update breakdown here, and go ahead and get a taste of that '90s cheese in ToeJam & Earl's trailer below.
