The track and field engagement remains in a lofty position for German athlete Alica Schmidt. The 25-year-old sensation repeatedly attacked the lower payment fiasco of the German Athletic Federation. In that line, the serious negligence from the board and the pressure of multiple commitments couldn’t dent Alica Schmidt’s performance or the hunger for the racing track.

That same hunger makes Alica Schmidt exercise the unthinkable in the pursuit of excellence. In a recent Instagram share, her fans received proof of that when the track and field talent gave a glimpse of her tough fitness regime.

On January 16, Alica Schmidt decorated her Instagram feed with an athletic post, clearly supporting her staunch love affair for track and field. The German relay runner captioned the post with sentences, “Nothing like breathing into a snorkel until your body gives up my kinda Tuesday”. The posted visual showed Alicia Schmidt on a treadmill, finding her best-sprinting feet and wearing a mask on her face to control the respiration process. In a plethora of showcasing fine results in track and field last season, that post accompanied a nice pairing.

But for Alica Schmidt, maintaining a strict resolution in the fitness schedule seems nothing new. Her Christmas celebration day witnessed the athlete in the same mood when she didn’t opt for a cheat day. A chain of episodes on the celebration day saw Alica finding an exercise mate in her brother and finding the best ways possible to shed sweat. That was what paid the former European Athletics U20 medalist beautifully in 2023.

Still a long way to go

Alica Schmidt’s best take on 400m sprinting came last year in the ISTAF Berlin meet. The ostentatious timing of 52.07 shot the track and field prodigy en route to the Paris Olympics medal-earning possibility. Moreover, the performance of Alica Schmidt didn’t come as a fluke as from the mid-season of 2023. She repeatedly hit the sub-52 category. That timing was enough to give her a semifinal berth in the WAC Budapest in 2023.

But to keep up the possibility among the best grains in the women’s 400m track and field category, Alica still needs to reach the sub-49 category. The same Budapest WAC watched her take seventh place in the 4x400m relay in the final. So in the present scenario, Alica Schmidt needs to fix certain things to post her best rebuttal to the German Athletic body through performance. The athlete’s extra effort in preparation points to that part only.
