New Balance Celebrates 30 Years of The 576 With Two Classic Colorways

New Balance as we know it today is a brand that stands on the shoulders of its retro runners. Many of their most popular sneakers now are running models that have been around since the ’80s, and have stayed because of their timeless silhouettes and top-notch craftsmanship.
One of the finest examples of this is the New Balance 576—the ultimate standard-issue New Balance sneaker. Profoundly simple and yet incredibly versatile (seriously, it looks good with everything), the 576 was first introduced in 1988, which means its been around for 30 years this year. New Balance is celebrating that landmark with faithful reissues of its original colorways: navy and gray.

These colorways of the 576 are so remarkably bland and devoid of personality—no flourishes, no bright pops of color, no cool little details. But that’s precisely why they’re so beautiful, and such a practical addition to any footwear rotation as well. They’re the most classic colorways of one of the most classic sneakers by a brand known for making classics.
This actually wouldn’t be the first time that New Balance reissued these colorways. They also came out in 2013 and in 2008, to celebrate the 576’s 25th and 20th anniversaries. A few details are different in the 2018 releases—like the gray heel counters and the dark blue N logo on the gray colorway—but as always, they’re faithful to the quality specifications of the originals from 1988. Like the originals, they’re made in the United Kingdom—a consistent promise of quality that New Balance is known for.
Previous releases of these colorways were quite limited and difficult to come by. It looks like they’re seeing a wider release this time around, as they are available at Assembly in SM Aura Premier and Powerplant Mall. Both pairs go for an individual retail price of P9,995.
