Michael Louis Alboucq returned to Heaven on November 28, 2023. He was born December 7, 1975 to Debra Bacon, as the second oldest of four energetic boys.

As a child Mike loved doing anything outdoors: camping, hiking, fishing, and exploring. He found solace in God’s creations amidst the evergreen trees and greenery of Washington State. Mike and his brothers, Jason, Robert, and Patrick, went on lots of adventures growing up – many of them resulting in memorable experiences and minor injuries. While in high school Mike wrestled and played football. After school he regularly joined in aggressive backyard boxing matches with some loyal friends who were a source of support to him throughout his life.

After returning from a two year mission to San Fernando California, Mike met and married Dana Alboucq, his loving companion for 23 years. Together they raised five beautiful, talented daughters: Rachael, Leah, Anna, Alyse, and Sayde. Mike’s family was his world. He shared his love of the outdoors with them by taking them hunting, kayaking, fishing, bike riding, shooting, running, and snowshoeing. Many special memories were made jogging on the country roads of Idaho as everyone learned to push through the pain of tired and sore legs, a concept that transitioned to important life lessons. Other cherished memories were made in the kayaks where it seemed more water ended up inside the boats than the lake. Bike rides always brought laughter and frequently turned into heated races.

Mike loved playing sports informally in the backyard with his girls and the neighborhood kids, as well as being a participant in adult soccer leagues and pick-up games. He found fulfillment giving back to the Rigby community by coaching soccer and wrestling. Mike’s sense of humor, witty remarks and enthusiasm brought happiness to the many athletes he coached.

Mike was a true handyman and enjoyed the challenge of even the most difficult and dirtiest jobs. He had a unique talent of taking apart a random broken appliance, changing a part, and then reassembling it. Though there were usually a few extra screws leftover, he was always successful! His daughters respected his work ethic and received various hands on training, whether they liked it or not.

In 2020, Mike left the law enforcement field and began teaching industrial arts – his dream job. He was a gifted, inspiring teacher and he loved his students. In addition to teaching woodworking skills, he intentionally taught the core values of kindness, humility, and respect to his middle school students in a segment he coined, Motivational Monday.

Mike will be remembered by his family and friends as protective, generous, and dedicated. He prioritized their safety and well-being and brought laughter and light to others. His roles as husband, father, brother, uncle, son, friend, coach, teacher, mentor, and neighbor will continue to influence all who loved him.

Memorial services for Mike will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at the Rigby South Stake Center (106 N 3800 E Rigby, ID 83442).
