About this product

Product Information

Players take on the role of Vyse, a young man who aspires to be a pirate. However, pirates in this game are not those found sailing the high seas. As the title suggests, the game focuses on the skies and that is where the people live. In order to travel between the islands that float with the clouds, sky-ships are used. Joining Vyse on his adventures are his childhood friend Aika and a mysterious young woman named Fina.

Known as Eternal Arcadia in Japan, Skies of Arcadia is set on two GD-ROMs featuring more than 50 hours of gameplay. There are six expansive lands to explore, more than 70 weapons available for use in battle, and 36 magical skills to be acquired. Players are also given the opportunity to design their own sky-ship and gather up to 15 crewmembers.

An RPG with pirates floating around on a magic ship in the clouds! What more can I say?

Skies of Arcadia is the best RPG game on Sega Dreamcast (sorry Phantasy Star Online). It feels similar to Panzer Dragoon Saga on the Sega Saturn, only with a much more bright and sunny graphics and colorful storyline. Unlike Panzer Dragoon Saga, Skies of Arcadia does not feature full videos or voice acting (instead using subtitles). However, Skies of Arcadia is a compelling game in its own right. It offers a unique world with space pirates who fly around on a magical ship through the clouds. The battle system is turn based, but with many unique gameplay features and magic power ups. Overall, one of the best Dreamcast games and a must for any RPG fan.

  • One of Sega's Dreamcast best Role Playing Games. Was very advanced in graphics, strategy and gameplay.

This received 5 stars because of the gameplay, graphics and difficulty of the game. In many places the game was tough but yet exiting to play due to its toughness. The challenge it took with patience and good strategy to advance through the game. Skies Of Arcadia deserves its place among the best RPG'S of all time. Gameplay, toughness, strategy, graphics, and turn based show it's credibility and respect of a great RPG for the Sega Dreamcast. It Is for sure a 5 star rated game. Highly recommend those who love strategy turned based RPG games.

  • Great Game and Awesome Graphics

This game is really fun, it has alot of characters with interesting backgrounds. The concept is fantastic. I also enjoyed a very interesting storyboard. The best part of the game has to do with the graphics. The graphics usually don't make the game but in this case they do. The character models are vivid and fluid, surpassing the gamecube version in some aspects. It is what truly makes the game fun, especially in 640x480 dpi. Any HD-TV monitor capable setup will show the artistic rendering of the Dreamcast at its height, with bumpmapping and without the fake cartoony stylizations the gamecube version brings you. The character models on this version appear more life-like with depth (although its really just a matter of preference.) On top of that, the sound is accurately ...

  • One of few great RPG's

The Dreamcast had a short life, mainly because it didn't raise enough interest of developers. It did manage however to get Skies of Arcadia. This game surprised really surprised me and I'll explain why. The storyline is emersive, but unlike most FinalFantasy games its not overlycomplicated and you probably will understand whats going on. The graphics even today look great, comparable to some early Playstation2 rpgs. The character's controls are more responsive than most rpgs, this is helped greatly with very good camera controls. One of the best features of Skies of Arcadia is the extensive use of Air Ships. These floating replicas of 18th centruy sea faring vessels make traveling to the various places in the game much more enjoyable than having to walk down long paths. ...

  • The Only Dreamcast RPG You'd Ever Need

If you're looking to buy any Dreamcast games on eBay, Skies of Arcadia should be on that list. While it was ported to the Gamecube, I still prefer this version - my reasoning? Well, this RPG takes advantage of everything that the Dreamcast was able to do. 1) The graphics are gorgeous, as most DC games graphics were, but the ones here really shine. 2) The story is solid and includes many classic RPG moments among some weirder elements (for instance, a cute evolving putty thing which you must feed is one character's weapon). 3) The VMU game is really good and there's a purpose behind having a normal VMU - every time you're near a certain item, the VMU gives a hearty beep while you search the screen for what it is. Sometimes it's a bit difficult to beat a certain ...
