San Lorenzo announce Hector Villalba transfer to MLS

And boom goes the dynamite. San Lorenzo have announced that they have sold 21-year-old Hector Villalba to MLS (reportedly Atlanta United). He will now travel to Miami to complete a medical to wrap up the deal.

Transferred to the @MLS, Héctor Villalba returned to Bs. as. and will depart to Miami where medical studies will be to then realize the pass.

Rumors have been circulating for the last month linking the Argentine winger with a move to Atlanta United. Reports have the expansion club paying up $2.5 million transfer fee to San Lorenzo to get the deal done. Despite Villalba's contract expiring in December, he was insistent that his beloved club get a transfer fee as a parting gift.

As with every player, MLS will own Villalba's contract, but it's expected that he will become an Atlanta United player likely as a young Designated Player. He will likely go on loan with Club Tijuana being the club being whispered the most. The details are slowly but surely being ironed out. It's been a long wait, but it appears we're close to the finish line.
