William, known in his family as Bill, Dad, or Poppy was born to William and Myrtle Schuch on the family farm July 27, 1933 in Menomonie, Dunn County, WI.
Bill married his wife June on September 19, 1959 and by all accounts he was a devoted husband. Together they raised their six children and several grandchildren between Colorado and Wisconsin. June preceded Bill in death, August 9, 2002.
Bill was a simple man who worked hard his whole life. He helped on the family farm as a boy and young man, and was a crane operator for more than 30 years. Then, after the passing of his wife June, Bill found renewed purpose and a “work family” as a delivery driver for King Soopers where he has worked for the last 16 years. This was a special community for Bill that he took pride in being a part of.
Bill took immense joy in his family. He loved to watch his son and grandsons play sports, never missing a game or match. He was an avid fan of the Rockies, Cubs, Broncos, Packers, and Avs. He was also a great outdoors man who loved to camp and fish. Known to dress up as Santa and play a mean game of poker, Bill enjoyed laughing and celebrating with his family and friends. He also had time for a garden every summer, even if the soil was rotten and the tomatoes didn’t grow. Though he didn’t like to admit it, Bill had a soft spot for animals, just ask his dog Sonny who he loved and walked all the time.
Poppy will be remembered with a smile on his face, a towel over his shoulder, and a good beer in his hand.
