Josef Q. Laude, MD was born on May 5, 1931, the oldest of three sons of Dr. Mariano Laude and Paz Quianzon of Danao City, Cebu, Philippines.
He graduated high school at the San Carlos University in Cebu City, and graduated college (Bachelor of Arts) and medicine at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines.
He met his wife, Teresita Awa (Tessie) in April 1959 and by the following month, they were going steady. They married on August 11, 1962. Two daughters were born to them, Vivianne and Jocelyn.
Peping or Pepe, as Josef was known to many friends, worked as a ship physician, and later as assistant health officer of Danao City. Peping and Tessie moved to the U.S. in 1964 and were naturalized as citizens of this great country in 1982.
They both did their medical internship and residency in Brooklyn NY. The family lived for 40 years in Staten Island, NY. Peping worked as an internist in the ambulatory unit of Interfaith Medical Center. He retired in 1997 after his quadruple coronary bypass.
Peping and Tessie, with and without their daughters, have traveled very extensively to as many as 45 countries. They also loved going to Las Vegas, NV. He loved music (Frank Sinatra). His favorite foods were dinuguan, pinakbet, and siopao. He played tennis, bowling, and loved boxing and other spectator sports. He was a loyal Knicks fan.
They retired happily in 2006 in Jacksonville, FL to avoid the snow in the north, and to be near the Mayo Clinic.
His joy and pride are his family – Tessie, daughters Vivianne and Jocelyn, sons-in-law Joel and Raymund, and grandchildren Natalie, Jessica, and Raymond.
He will always be remembered as a kind, gentle, and loving person.

Remembered with everlasting love and treasured memories by his devoted wife Teresita A.
