Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget has finally hatched on Netflix, some 23 years since the first movie charmed us all.
The sequel might not have brought back all of the original cast, but we do reunite with our favourite characters, including Ginger (Thandiwe Newton, taking over from Julia Sawalha), Rocky (Zachary Levi, taking over from Mel Gibson) and Babs (Jane Horrocks).
We even get the surprise return of classic villain Mrs Tweedy, voiced again by Miranda Richardson, causing trouble yet again for the chickens. But if you paid close attention, Mrs Tweedy isn't the only iconic Aardman villain to make a return in the sequel.
Spoilers follow, but here's the unexpected crossover you might have missed during Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget's ending.
Why is Feathers McGraw in Chicken Run 2?
The finale of Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget sees Ginger, Rocky and co help every chicken escape from Fun-Land Farms, where Mrs Tweedy had planned to turn every chicken into fast-food nuggets.
Unsurprisingly, she doesn't succeed and is outwitted again by Ginger. Fun-Land Farms explodes with Mrs Tweedy still in the grounds, but we're pretty sure she'll be back if there's a Chicken Run 3.
Back at their home, Ginger and Rocky's daughter Molly (Bella Ramsey) returns from local reconnaissance with Frizzle (Josie Sedgwick-Davies). They report a sighting of a chicken farm nearby with "30 birds to a cage".
There's only one thing for it. Ginger and the chickens tool up again to break those birds out of the farm. The final shot of Chicken Run 2 sees them about to start their mission, but there's a surprise guest among them.
If you keep an eye on the top right of the chicken crowd, you'll spot somebody who definitely isn't a chicken: Feathers McGraw.
As the chickens head in to infiltrate the farm, Feathers decides against joining them and turns around, likely to plan another heist or ten.
Since his excellent debut in The Wrong Trousers, Feathers has popped up in several Aardman outings.
Feathers didn't make an appearance in A Close Shave, but there was prison graffiti saying "Feathers was 'ere" when Gromit was sent to prison. He has made an appearance though in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit and A Matter of Loaf and Death.
The latter appearance was both as a cameo after Piella Bakewell met a snappy end with the crocodiles, but also on a wanted poster which revealed that Feathers had, yet again, evaded justice and escaped.
Of course, if you want to consider Chicken Run 2 to be part of an extended Aardman universe, this would technically be Feathers McGraw's first appearance in the timeline as the sequel is set in the 1960s.
Perhaps seeing all these crafty chickens inspired Feathers to put on the red rubber glove to disguise himself as a chicken for all of his crimes? Or perhaps we're overthinking it and it's little more than a fun Easter egg for fans to enjoy.
Either way, keep a close eye out in the background when you rewatch Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget as you never know what other treats you might have missed.
