Samuel L Jackson has joined the cast of the upcoming animated Garfield movie.
The actor will appear alongside his fellow Marvel co-star Chris Pratt, who is voicing the lazy, Monday-hating orange cat.
Jackson will be voicing Garfield's father, Vic, in the forthcoming movie, according to TheWrap. The character has never previously been seen in the comics.
There is currently no word as to who will play Garfield's owner, Jon Arbuckle, and fellow pet Odie, the lovable dog.

The Garfield movie is being penned by Finding Nemo writer David Reynolds and directed by Mark Dindal, who previously helmed Disney's Chicken Little and The Emperor's New Groove.
Garfield comics made their debut in 1978 and went on to gain an international following. Originally only appearing in 41 newspapers, it became one of the fastest-growing comics, reaching an estimated readership of 260 million.
It also stands as the most widely syndicated comic worldwide.
The animated movie will mark the third time the comic strip character has hit cinemas.
Bill Murray previously voiced the character in 2004's Garfield: The Movie and 2008's Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties. However, both were poorly received by critics at the time.
Garfield also appeared in three animated direct-to-video movies between 2007 and 2009.
Pratt is no stranger to voice-acting, having brought characters to life in titles such as the Lego Movie films, Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, Lego Jurassic World and Disney's Onward.
He'll be heard as the titular plumber in Super Mario Bros: The Movie, along with Always Sunny actor Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, Seth Rogen and Last Night in Soho's Anya Taylor-Joy.
Meanwhile, Jackson is also lending his voice to the animated Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank which hits cinemas in July.
