Inaction on CHIP is reprehensible

The fact that funding for the Childrens Health Insurance Program has still not been continued is a testament to Congress’ astounding inability to govern and legislate for those who are most deserving.

For those who should one day be the guiding members of our society — "should," because withholding funding for CHIP means there will be children who do not see adulthood, puberty, even elementary school — Congress is waging a class war and they’re fighting it on the backs of sick children.

If there is money to give tax breaks to corporations, those who mortgage mansions, and those who ride in private jets, there is certainly money to ensure that a child never makes it into a casket. There is money to ensure that parents don’t outlive their children.

This inaction is reprehensible and must not continue.

Democrats corrupted the FBI

The only collusion that the current Mueller witch hunt has uncovered was collusion on behalf of Israel that was aimed at killing a United Nations Security Council's resolution unfavorable to Israel.

But the real scandal is the investigation itself.

Certain that Hillary Clinton would win and anxious to keep their jobs, the FBI refused to bring charges against the Clinton crime family in regard to Hillary's sharing classified documents and having her own servers. Then there were the pay-for-play schemes that funneled millions of dollars through the Clinton Foundation. And, of course, the tarmac incident where Bill Clinton met with the Attorney General to track and influence the investigations into the Clinton crimes.

Then, as Trump gained momentum,  high officials in the FBI — Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, and Lisa Page — adopted what they themselves referred to as an insurance policy. This policy aimed to influence the electoral college and, failing that, to obstruct the incoming administration at every level.

Now the United States is in the second year of phase three of that plot; phase three, of course, being the Mueller circus that has produced no evidence of Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Moreover, two of the so-called investigators were none other that Strzok and Page.

This politicization of the FBI that now functions as a hit team for the Democratic Party is a disgrace to that organization.

Please give schools adequate funding

My name is Chloe Davis, and I am a student at Middletown High School. I currently am taking the early childhood career pathway in hopes of becoming an elementary school teacher.

As someone who strongly believes in proper education, I am sad to say that I am starting to have second thoughts about my pathway. If the state is unable to provide schools with appropriate amounts of funding, teachers will not be given the salaries they deserve, and ultimately not be able to support themselves like they previously have.

Not only will the educators be affected, but so will the students! If teachers aren't getting paid a significant amount, they will be more likely not to provide students with the education they deserve, and that is just not right!

I think everyone in the state can agree that education is one of the most important programs that require funding. If budgets are cut and students are not given a good education, think about how that can affect our world!

We need funding for our teachers to teach. We need funding for our students to learn. We need funding for our programs to run. We need funding to help mold our next generation.

I ask that you please take this crisis into consideration and find another way to give back more funding to our education.

Why can't we just enjoy Eagles' success?

Dear Mr. Frank,

I am an 83-year-old Eagles fan. I have read all I can tolerate about the uncertain fate of the Eagles in the playoffs.

The Eagles this year were a joy to watch, the best in my considerable experience. I would like to see them advance to the Super Bowl, but if they do not, they have given me great joy this year — and I thank them.

I’m not sure you see this side, being preoccupied with what is in the future and under-appreciating that which has gone before.
