Used to abreva working? Well not anymore!

I cant exactly remember when I first started getting cold sores all I know is that I got the dang things because of my grandfather who kissed me on the face as a new born in the hospital when he had one on his face. Thanks gramps. Anyway my mom always used to buy abreva for me whenever I got one. It was always the tube (before the pump came out) and usually within 4 days or so yeah it would be gone. But I've notice as I've gotten older that the tube and pump are not the same. I don't know if they are being manufactured different or what but I remember the tube abreva being a bit thicker than the pump which seems to be a bit more liquidy than its predecessor. Recently (about 5 days ago) I noticed a cold sore start on my upper lip and the second I got home I applied the abreva from the pump to my lip and did so about 5 different times a day even being sure to get rid of the old before applying new. And now I can unhappily state that it dose not work as quickly as intended while it seems to be trying to go down it still hurts and today it seemed to be leaking when I reapplied. Maybe I just need to wait longer but I really hate going out in public with this stuff dried to my upper lip. either way its not the product it used to be also too expensive per tube and I hate the pump design like everyone else. It truly is just wasting your product so that you have to buy more.

    Relieves symptoms

The only product that helps my symptoms. Fever blisters dry more quickly so the discomfort is diminished and the healing time improved.

Squeeze tube abreva + hydrocolliod bandages

I bought this the second i saw blisters forming for a cold sore. I applied 5 times the first day. At night i used a hydrocolliod bandage cute in half and BOOM blisters popped and gone when i woke up the next day. The bandage was full of puss. 2nd day i have noticeable redness but is fully flat and has 1 tiny little scab that looks like when u pick a pimple. Ive never had one heal so fast. Highly recommend both products together.

    DO NOT USE

I am so very disappointed and upset. I got this the day I felt the little tingle happening and was hoping for the best. I started using that same day (Thursday) and used as directed. Applies 5 times a day Thursday and Friday. By Saturday afternoon I had to quit using it. This caused the cold sore to replicate and is now all around the side of my lip on the top and the bottom. The tingle initially only happened on the top and I did not apply to the bottom. I have never in my 38 years had a old sore this horrible or look this bad. I will never use this product again. I would not recommend anyone else use it either.

    Great stuff

I am a 3 weekend, usually. Bought Abreva a few months ago with OTC benefit. Tingle. Broke open the pkg. Pump is great...just a little pressure gave me just the right amount for my lip. Long story short, never got a blister or ooze. One week to the day and it's "what coldsore?"
