I bought this to replace a Cambridge CD player that occasionally acted up. I like this unit just fine. It's easy to use and reads all of the CDs I';ve tried since I got it...even those I've burned myself.
Pros: Reads and plays all of my CDs
Cons: The CD drawer runs a bit slower than other CD players.

Richard from Horseheads, NY on 3/27/2024
So far so good. Excellent sound with folk, pop, classical. A little too much in the highs with more heavy rock. But it still isn't broken in as I have only had it for about a week. Good paired with my Prima Luna Tube amp.
Pros: Great build, Great looking, Great Sound
Cons: Power cord a bit loose, no fixes for that. A bit bright in the treble section of rock mixes.

Freya provided excellent advice on which CD player would be best for my system. She recommended the Rotel CD 11, which she ordered with my approval. Four days later the box from Crutchfield arrived. Within 15 to 20 minutes, the CD player was up and running. The sound is simply amazing! I am very impressed with the depth and clarity of the sound. I purchased this on recommendation from Rachel who was so patient and awesome. The unit is whisper quiet and sounds amazing. One review stated the unit took a little long to read the disk and I did find that to be true. My thought on that is it's just a few seconds it seems minor to me. I look forward to many years of enjoying music on this unit.
Pros: Whisper quiet Sound is amazing
Cons: reading the disk seems a bit long but not enough to bother me.

Port Huon
Trevor from Port Huon on 1/13/2024
Same problem as others - from the outset it would just stop playing randomly in the middle of a CD. The retailer (QANTUM Hobart) were incredulous that this could happen and basically called me a liar. I persevered and ended up getting 3 replacements (ie, 4 units in all) and the same thing happened with all of them. Decided to live with it, then after 18 months a new glitch - fluttering/stuttering at the beginning on tracks 1. This became progressively worse until it was unplayable. It spend 4 months with my local repairer who replaced various parts and contacted Rotel for advice with no success. In the end admitted it could not be fixed. Now a pretty but useless ornament.
Pros: Good sound on the rare occasions when it would play.
Cons: Endless glitches even when replaced by new units.

Paul from FORT MILL, SC on 11/25/2023
I've owned the CD 11 Tribute a little less than 2 years now and I think it's safe to say the verdict is in - this is an expensive pile of junk. For awhile, whenever it would cut out during playback, you could restart the unit by unplugging it for awhile, then plug it back it and it would play. This would happen about once every 3 weeks or so, but now it's every day. Restarting for any length of time no longer has any effect and the unit will be taking up space in the closet until I find or figure out what can be done about it.

Initial impressions; for the money best CD Player I have owned. Wow! As other reviewers have stated CD11 Tribute brings Compact Disks to life and you can hear a much fuller musical presentation when playing your CDs. Right now I'm listening to the Eagles "Hell Freezes Over" CD as I type my comments and it sounds great! I have played Styx, a 70s hit CD, Steve Miller Band, and the all sound wonderful. Liked this player so much, I have ordered the A11 Tribute Amplifier to go with it. Can't wait to get the two hooked up and listen to them together. This Boomer is one very happy camper!
Pros: Crystal Clear Sound, Easy Set-up, with Simple Player Control Layout and comes with a Remote too boot!

Great sound but flaky
Ed from BELLEVUE, WA on 10/10/2023
Went with this device after deciding against another NAD ("Not Always Dependable") only to find that this machine is not always dependable. Tremendous sound through the onboard DAC, but I have some gripes. 1) Occasionally it struggles to play discs, not CDRs, but good ol' manufactured discs. Disconnecting the power and reconnecting has always fixed this problem. Turning on and off via the power button does not. 2) Sometimes it will simply stop playing a disc maybe midway through. Again hard reboot fixes it. 3) The display cannot be seen from an angle. The move away from LED displays has meant that I can no longer see display info from my listening spot. boo. It appears that the software on this machine can be updated, but I saw no update released after I bought this thing, so I guess no fixes have been released.

A fitting Tribute to Ken I
Guest from Huntington, NY on 7/30/2023
My Marantz cd5001, that I have enjoyed for a long while, recently began to throw out error messages, skip, & make some disconcerting noises. After a thorough cleaning (that didn't make matters any better), I figured that I would seek a replacement since the drawer & the laser carriage seemed tired. Being a longtime Marantz fan, I looked at their cd players and noted no units for less than $800. As a budget minded customer of audio equipment, I was left with the choice of the Marantz-adjacent Denon 900 (not a bad unit I hear), or the Rotel cd 11 tribute for $600. The fact that the Rotel was tweaked by Ken Ishiwata made a strong argument for this being my choice. However, the price of the Denon 900 & the Rotel gave me pause, so I looked for further options (I.e., less expensive Yahama & Denon 600). But I kept coming back to the Cd11; Mr. Ishiwata's legendary role at Marantz was central to my ultimate decision to (when my Marantz player finally went terminal) purchase the Rotel. However, the folks at Crutchfield must have sensed my budget audio dilemma & ran a special on the Rotel for $499. SOLD! I must say that this player sounds better with each cd I play! The music is detailed, the soundstage is wider & deeper, & has a bit of that Marantz magic thanks to Ken I.a fitting tribute indeed!
Pros: 1. Excellent choice for the budget minded audio consumer 2. Incredible value & nice build quality 3. Right out of the box sounded better than my old player 4. Fast professional service from the folks at Crutchfield!
Cons: None so far.

Love this cd player! I Have it paired with a11 tribute amp. I couldn't be happier. The sound is warm without sacrificing clarity. CDs that sound harsh and cold with other players are much easier to listen to. I really think the combination of the a11amp& cd 11 player is magical! Buttons on remote are a little small but that's the only quibble I would have!
Pros: Excellent value. Real deal sound quality.

Rotel CD-11 Tribute
Richard from BELEWS CREEK, NC on 7/11/2023
Bottom Line: This is a great sounding CD player, a real boost from the original CD11, with secret sauce added by Ken Ishiwata. There are cheaper CD players out there, and, of course more expensive ones. There are no frills here: no headphone preamp, no selectable curves for the internal DAC, no optical output (it does have a standard RCA Digital out), no fancy display (although it is dimmable and it does give you CD-TEXT when available, so 2 points for those ; ) so no extraordinary feature set. What id DOES have is a group of mods (electronic parts substitutions and chassis dampening) to the original design that were mostly completed by Ken himself before his passing (and then finished by Rotel's design team). Anyway, it has a Pedigree! To my ear, some of the earlier Rotel CD players were very detailed, but also a little bright. The CD11 Tribute has great detail retrieval, but manages to deliver it in a very smooth way that never feels tiring or , well, non musical. It likes my older CD's just fine and brings out the best in several Mobile Fidelity titles like the Layla album and Abraxas. It won't make a bad sounding CD sound good...nothing will...but you might just find some "extra insight" into titles you already liked. All in all, I would call this major bang for the buck. ** One surprise for me that I almost forgot to mention: the internal DAC is VERY good. It will be difficult to better without really dropping some $$$. Well done! **
Pros: Performance over Features
Cons: Nothing at this price point!

Bummer--skips on longer CDs.
James from Pittsburgh, PA on 3/21/2023
This was a great CD player, but it had trouble playing *every single* disc I own that is longer than 65 minutes. I don't mean CD-Rs either--usually the problem was on longer re-issues with extra songs. When it got to the last couple tracks on longer CDs, it would skip, stall, or simply stop playing. I returned it to Crutchfield for a refund. I was terribly disappointed because the sound was stellar.
Pros: Sounds is stellar, aesthetic design.
Cons: Doesn't play longer CDs without skipping on the last tracks.

Great sounding CD player in my headphone only system.... until it stops working. It's 17 months old and now randomly stops playing in the middle of a track before the end of the disk. I researched this issue on the internet and found several posts from owners with the same issue. Since it's almost out of warranty and it's an issue that's not unique to my unit, I'm not going to fool with it and just replace it with an Audiolab 6000CDT (which I already have one in my speaker system and I know is reliable). Too bad because it really is a great sounding player.
Pros: Sounds really good
Cons: Stops playing in the middle of a track before the end of the disk.

Wonderfully simple CD player
Marc from Plainview, NY on 2/26/2023
I've been a vintage audio collector for years. I've wanted to try equipment from the current century to see how things have changed sound wise. With that out of the way, this is the second component I've bought, the first being an A11. The cd11 is an excellent player. Combined with an A11, it projects a warm and inviting soundstage. Controls are simple and straightforward. If all you're looking for is to listen to music simply and with wonderful sound, this one fits the bill. Only negative I see is it's a little slow reading a cd when the drawer is closed.
Pros: Simple, delightfully warm sound.
Cons: Slow to read a CD

Rotel Tribute Sounds Great!
Mojo from Detroit MI on 2/20/2023
I had my Rotel Tribute for 3 months now. This unit replace as old cheap Sony 5 disc changer for my man cave basement system. I have it running into an older RX-A2060 Yamaha amp running in pure direct mode. My speakers are a set of Klipsch RP800s. All I can say is wow! Yes I am hearing detail things on my favorite classic rock tracks I have never heard before! The music sounds fantastic! I was kind of leery spending $600 on a simple CD player, but my ears are telling me it was money well spent! Dealing with Crutchfield was a breeze too!

Excellent CD player
Cary from Dahlgren, VA on 2/20/2023
I purchased this CD player to replace my 30 year old CD player. I can definitely hear the difference. There's better definition and clarity. Piano music sounded dull and uninteresting on my old CD player. The same music on this new Rotel CD player has sparkle and is engaging. I'm glad I purchased this CD player. I only have two quibbles and they have to do with the remote only. The buttons on the remote are small. I also don't like how fast forward or reverse on the remote works. The fast forward or reverse stays engaged until you press the play button. These are small things and don't detract from the great CD player itself.
Pros: Clarity
Cons: Small buttons on the remote.

Sad day for a Player I wanted to love
guitarman from Rhinelander, WI on 11/19/2022
I wanted to love this CD player in the worst way. This thing checks every box on my list. It is Silver face the readout for me is fantastic easy to read and looks cool. The cd drawer opens and closes smooth as silk.It looks and feels very well made. It sounds fantastic and it just looks out and out cool in my set up.It gives me the cool vintage vibes of the 70's Rotel gear I use to own. So why the 2 stars? Well, I had read all or most of the reviews on here about this player lets face it the majority are glowing reviews. Then there are the very few that said their player would not play a long CD all the way though and the player would just stop in the middle of the disc. NO WAY ! YES WAY ! Mine started to do it after 5 days of using it. I used it probably 6-8 hours a day. I contacted Crutchfield and they told me to try and unplug it and plug it back in ( Now I have 5 other players and never had to do this but OK.) I put the same disc that would not play all the way though( Jethro Tull Roots to branches it is over an hour long the other disc was the old Scorpians Live another long disc) It got to the same place on the disc and stopped. For me that was enough. I called Crutchfield this time and spoke with a very nice, helpful person I could not have asked for better treatment from an online retailer. I told her my problem and she instantly said no problem I exchanged it for the equally beautiful Marantz CD60 silver face. I added the difference with my C.C. and it was shipped.
Pros: Great looking, great sounding, smooth tray fast loading
Cons: Will not play long CD's all the way though There is no fix that I could find.

The inner voices and counter melodies come through as distinct voices in the whole ensemble. The instruments sounds come with the subtle nuances of being played by a human being. That is, you can actually hear the physical manipulations of the instrument. And the music itself is just astoundingly expressive.
Pros: Sound Quality Ease of operation Remote

The Rotel CD-11 Tribute is a magnificent piece of machinery. One (of many other perks) is that has analog RCA connectors, so you can hook it up to an oldie tuner receiver. If this were a Multi CD Changer it would have been perfection.
Pros: RCA connectors.
Cons: Not a multi changer.

Rotel CD11 Tribute
Roy from Show Low, AZ on 9/30/2022
Respectable sound for the money. I have about 16 hours on it now. I plan to use the player primarily as a transport for my vintage Linn Numerik but I also wanted a player with built in Dac since the Linn is 29 years old and its companion transport the Karik already died. While sonically inferior to the Linn which was four times more expensive, the on board Dac provides listenable sound when needed. I would describe the basic character as warm rather than bright or lean. It is also noticeably deficient in its ability to delineate the ambient information in a recording. This may well improve with more playback hours as I have already noticed an improvement with the minimal play time. Most of the time I stream Qobuz but sometimes it's nice to play CD's. Also if the internet goes down, I can still have music.
Pros: Worked out of the box. CD drawer is reasonably sturdy & quiet. Decent appearance. Dimmable display. Feels sturdy. Loads disc fairly quick.
Cons: Display hard to read unless very close. No separate switch for the digital output. Gotta be quick changing disc's or drawer closes by itself. Better have your next selection ready to load.

My Tribute to the Tribute

This is replacing a Sony CDP 455 Carousel player. It kept having issues with the belts breaking. With 400 of my favorite CD's loaded, and no way to access them because the belt broke, I found the first release of the Beatles Sgt. Peppers album. It sounded amazing! Clear and with a great soundstage - playing through a restored Pioneer SX-1250 (165 watts RMS per channel) with Bose 901 Series VI speakers. Can't wait to open up the Sony and hear the new release. ??????
Pros: Rock solid transport and great DAC.

I bought this Rotel tribute player and have to say I am more than completely satisfied with how it works functions and sounds everything I put into it it plays flawlessly buy it you won't regret it I also got it from crutchfield and love crutchfield great company to do business with and I've read some of the reviews that were one star one or two of them and I don't understand where these people are coming from with a one-star review that the unit won't play or something yeah if you put a CD and that's scratched or dirty or you know full of hair and and soda yeah it's not going to play right I have no idea where they got a one-star review on this unit it's something they did I'm sure so don't be discouraged by that this is probably the best CD player I have ever owned and I also spent a lot of money on a nice vinyl setup so my two formats are vinyl and still CDs and CDs that are remastered well sound phenomenal and for the money you can't do better super audio CD DVD audio CD CDs I used to buy but no more we're way overpriced did they really sound better yes somewhat but like I said a well remastered plain CD with a higher sampling rate is about as good as you can hear and this unit has a 125 decibel signal to noise ratio I've never heard of any unit having anything higher buy it you won't regret this I got mine in Black and it matches my Yamaha s701 perfectly and I can run it either through my digital coax cable or the regular RCA cables I prefer the RCA cables myself

Rotel CD11 Tribute
This CD player replaced a Cambridge 640c. The detail and spacing of instruments is really good. Very non-fatiguing sound, not quite record level but very close. It shines with acoustic guitars. It seems very solidly built. I read some complaints online about the drawer being flimsy but it seems solid. Using older Polk rtia3's and older Denon receiver with new PrimeDa cables. Very happy with sound and build quality.
Pros: Good detailed sound and imaging, very good build quality for the price.
Cons: None so far.

Rotel and Yamaha match made in Heave
Paul from Akron on 5/28/2022
I have had this unit for about 55days. I am very pleased with the sound quality which is very warm and sound studio quality. The CD draw is very quiet and smooth. It is very easy to change CD s . The light from the display illuminates the CD drawer. I matched this unit with two of the Rotel A12 MKII integrated amps. I had to return both because the top of these units got VERY HOT to the point that it would burn my hand if I held it in place. I returned both. I got the Yamaha A-S701 integrated amp which is great. No overheating problem. The sound of the Rotel CD11 Tribute and the Yamaha A-S701 integrated amp is breath taking and awesome. I got the silver. Very happy in Akron , Ohio.
Pros: Beautiful sound quality and functionality
Cons: I have to have two remotes. The Yamaha volume knob needs a ligit.

Amazing Nuance From My CD Collection
Jeff from Washburn, WI on 4/21/2022
It's very solid and well built and brings out every detail and nuance in many of my favorite CD's. It seems to bring out every bit of musical information. Well recorded and mastered CD's are transcendent and very life-like. However, it cannot compensate for poor source material, I wouldn't expect it to... Early Steely Dan sounds a little raggedy but Gaucho is Amazing! I played Buster Williams Griot Liberte and I got chills... Absolutely Amazing!!! I'm running it through an old (late 1980's) Naim NAIT2 amp (pre-amp actually) but I'll be upgrading that soon so I hope for even more amazing music to come... All of the controls and the remote are very intuitive and easy to operate. And of course, Crutchfield service was excellent as well... I'm a Happy Cat!

Jason from Roanoke Rapid, NC on 3/29/2022
I'm a vinyl guy with a tube amp. I needed a CD player to play some of these bonus CDs that come with vinyl box sets. I wanted something that would come close to the sound of vinyl. Pretty impressed with the sound quality of this unit. It seems to have a warm, neutral sound. I only wish for this price it could play SACDs. I think the finish on the top of the unit could have been a bit better for the price. You might want to consider a better power cord if you're looking at this too.
Pros: Sound! Sound! Sound!
Cons: No SACD compatibility. Finish on top of the unit could have been a bit better for a 600 dollar item.

In my hands, connected, and using within 48 hours. So far after using for one week, I am very satisfied with my choice. The CD11 is simple and efficient to operate, and my music sounds terrific. Nice sound with a cosmetic issue
Fred from Houston, TX on 3/20/2022
Overall this is a nice performing CD player. The features and remote functionality work well, which was my primary reason for swapping out my old player with a crappier remote. The sound from the CD11 is quite pleasing to my ear via RCA out to my preamp. No desire to use an external DAC. My one not so minor quibble is the horrible finish on the top plate due to major overspray on my black model. I've experienced this issue before on entry level gear, but never this bad. QC seems pretty lacking on this $600 player, and it makes me hesitant to buy another Rotel product in the future. It works fine and resides in a media cabinet, so I decided it wasn't worth the hassle of returning.

Rotel Made Me a Believer Again!
Peter from Marlborough, MA on 3/15/2022
I recently replaced my aging Rotel_RCD-965BX Limited Edition CD player that I bought in 1993 (IIRC). Its tray mechanism had started to fail and the eject button had been broken by my impatient brother. At the time this player represented the best mid-class unit you could find and I was lucky enough to get a floor model from the RDL Acoustics Showroom (RIP Roy Allison). I have been running pretty much all Rotel gear since then and even have a working RD-960bx Cassette Deck. When it came to time to choose a new CD player, I was torn. Rotel seemed to be a different company since I had purchased my last piece of equipment from them, and I was seriously leaning towards Cambridge Audio. Then I came across the CD11 Ken Ishiwata Tribute player. This surely had to be the one. It is reasonably priced, with extreme attention to upgrading the signal path, however, I was not prepared for the improvement to the sound of my system. Details I had never heard before started appearing on CDs I had listened to hundreds of time. The clean, tight bass, mids, and the soaring highs were a real eye (and ear) opener. It took a while for my ears to adjust, and for the unit to "run in", but I am hearing things that were lost by my old player, and it sounded pretty darned good in its day. I highly recommend giving this CD Player a try! I am now listening to CDs I haven't heard in 10+ years and loving every sonic minute of it.
Pros: Fantastic Price and Sound! Makes Well Produced CDs Sound Great!
Cons: Takes a While To Load CDs Shows All the Flaws in Badly Produced CDs

Nice CD Player
Joel from Waynesboro, VA on 2/13/2022
I have had the CD 11 for just about a month. Did not want to rush into a review before listening to the player for a couple of weeks. Initially I was not happy with the CD digital sound quality. I believe this was because I have been listening to my vinyl for about a year. That being said I have now settled in to my stereo system and have become pleased with the sound quality of the CD. The CD 11 plays back my old CD's quite well. The mids, vocals and bass response are excellent. I do hear musical nuances that were not heard with my last CD player. I have a pair of B&W 601's that tend to be little bright on the top end. Thus there can be a tendency for the higher frequencies to be a little to much for my ears when the stereo is turned up to higher volumes. Moving the speakers slightly and experimenting with the dampers provided by B&W helped get the sound I was looking for. I have replaced my Audio Research preamp with my old stand by Conrad Johnson and this characteristic has melted away. I can only say that you need to tweek your system to get the most out of any source you may add to your system. The player is well built is simple to use and I have only good things to say about the quality of the build. Keep it simple is my Moto for most anything I purchase. I believe this player will last a long time. As always Crutchfied is on point with their customer service, delivery and quality products. The CD11 is a keeper.

Well worth it!
Brent from Laveen, AZ on 1/15/2022
I received my CD11 a couple of weeks ago. It's replacing a TEAC CD-P650 which had a short life with minimal use. The first thing I noticed was how well packaged the CD11 is; you know that you're getting something of quality. The unit is silver and has a very classy look. It's very basic with no additional and unnecessary features. It behaves exactly like what it is, a CD player. It is a bit heavier than other CD players that I've owned. The real test was the sound. For best sound with the old TEAC I normally hooked it up by digital optical out to my Outlaw RR2160 MkII receiver with Emotiva T2+. That receiver has a very nice sounding Burr Brown DAC. I initially connected the CD11 that way and it sounded good and a little nicer than the TEAC. I then decided to connect it with the analog RCA out to utilize its own Texas Instruments DAC. All I can say is wow! The sound is very pronounced and detailed with no harshness. It sounds similar to the high res FLAC files I play through a Hi-Res media player. Operation in the CD tray is very smooth and quiet and reads CDs very quickly. The only minor issue I have with this unit is the bright red power LED when the unit is in standby. When the unit is on it turns blue which you can dim from the menu or remote. There's no option to dim it when it is red other than to completely shut the unit off with the power button. At a few hundred dollars I feel I got my money's worth.
Pros:
Cons: Price of CD players these days in general are higher than what I'm used to. But this was worth the money.

Karl from Denver, CO on 1/7/2022
Fabulous sound reproduction. I don't have words to really describe the sound. I hooked it up with shielded analog cables to my Cambridge AXR-100 receiver to my JBL L82 speakers. Sound as good as the best vinyl on a great turntable but without the dust pops! A person could spend a thousand dollars or more but that would not buy you any better sound. This is a true tribute to Ken Ishiwata. I could have given this a 4 because of the remote but the sound quality and function is the important thing to me and that's five stars hands down.
Pros: Very clean and simple appearance. Straight forward operation.
Cons: Remote is kind of funky. The operational controls are tiny buttons at the bottom of the remote and like everybody else not illuminated. Am I the only person who listens to music in a room with muted lighting?

Just a CD Player Please
Darin from Cottonwood Heights, UT on 1/3/2022
After years of streaming my CD rips from a computer I decided to add a CD player back into my HIFi system. I don't own a standalone DAC and don't want to fuss with one so I needed a musical player that could play well on its own and not just as a transport. I decided to give the Rotel a try after reading numerous professional reviews on various websites and customer reviews on this site. As with every Crutchfield order it arrived on time. I installed it using AudioQuest Evergreen cables into an approximately twenty-year-old Rotel preamp/amplifier combo feeding my B&W 603s of similar vintage. For my first listen I selected "Now That I Have Found You" by Alison Krauss, the same CD that I used to demo the rest of my system two decades ago. The Rotel left me grinning at the subtle tremolo of Alison's voice and the textures of the various acoustic instruments. I've listened to these songs hundreds of times and it was a pleasure to discover new detail in such a familiar place. Streaming is truly remarkable technology but my sense is the Rotel outperformed my Bluesound Node 2i when playing the same material and there is still something to be said for the simple pleasure of popping in a disc and sitting back for an hour of beautiful and faithfully rendered music. Music lovers looking to add a quality CD player to a simple HiFi system (which should be all music lovers) should find plenty to like in this player.
Pros: Solid build Detailed and Musical Sound Simple Interface
Cons: Clunky remote

This is an awesome sounding CD player for the money. I auditioned a few CD players at a local hi-fi store, prices ranging from $350 to $1,500. The CD11 Tribute had more clarity than the more expensive machines, thanks to TE. This pairs up nicely with my Rotel RA 1572 Integrated Amp and sounds amazing thru my new Harbeths M30.2 XD's. Again, Crutchfield came thru with flying colors, received the player in 2 days, great price and service.

Superb sound
Crutchfield customer from Palestine, TX on 12/15/2021
I've owned many CD players since they first hit the scene, all of which were middle of the road price wise but had high marks when reviewed by the most respected audio critics of the time. But this one, this one just sounds a bit different. It just sounds better. While listening to music I'm very familiar with the smallest of details that once I could just barely hear are now more pronounced and present. The Texas Instruments 24-bit/192kHz digital-to-analog converter along with the other changes made by the great audio guru Ken Ishiwata has set the CD11 Tribute above the rest, offering superb sound as it delivers an accurate, true-to-life, deeply engaging performance. It sounds as if it should be far more expensive than it is. Considering Crutchfield's world class customer service and return policy why not give it a shot? I don't believe you'll be disappointed. On the contrary, very likely amazed. It's that good.

Chester Went The Extra Mile.
Crutchfield customer from Portland, OR on 11/30/2021
I couldn't justify the cost of a Musical Fidelity M3scd or Rega Apollo CD player. Something these players feature that many CD players less than $1000 do not is a feature that used to be common to all CD players from the beginning of time: gapless playback. "Gapless" means there are no artificial breaks between tracks that are intended to be listened to blending from one to another (the second side of The Beatles' "Abbey Road" or my test disc which was "Queen II" by Queen). I've listened to CDs since 1986 and I'm shocked this is a "thing" in 2021. I returned an amazing piece of industrial jewelry from a factory direct manufacturer because it didn't play discs properly. One of the challenges right now is that nobody knows for sure whether or not a CD player has or doesn't have gapless playback. People aren't demo-ing like they used to in stores and manufacturers aren't publishing this specific information. Sumiko, the distributor for Rotel in the US didn't give me a clear answer. I contacted a number of retailers on the subject and there weren't any clear answers. It basically came down to whomever could find out the real answer was going to get the sale. My hifi guru in NC called Crutchfield about a phono cartridge and talked to Chester about the gapless playback issue...and Chester did some digging on the net and found that someone had played the second half of "Abbey Road" on their CD11T and it played properly, so I attributed the sale to him.
Pros: Supports gapless playback! Very detailed. Good build quality for the price -- this is not a lot of money for a CD player today but for a lot of people it's a lot of money for a CD player. Crutchfield shrunk a blue cover over the factory box for shipping which is a nice protective touch. Matches well sonically with my 1974-5 Yamaha CA-1000 integrated amp & 1973-6 EPI M150 speakers.
Cons: None yet -- still breaking it in.

Solid Player
Crutchfield customer from Fairfax Station, VA on 11/8/2021
This is a beautiful player but all of the tech I think is in the circuit design and interior capcitors etc. All of those are good things and the primary reason I bought the player. However, The functions are bare bones essential so dont expect a modern streaming type interface with disc info etc. But as an old school cd player with older functions it performs beautifully. I don't rate sound as I believe there is minimal difference between cd players but I do appreciate quality, beauty, and longevity which are the reasons I bought this.

I tested the Rotel CD11 vs Audiolab CDT, I can't say much about the sound because I think it has more to do with the amp you use. But I will clear out about an important feature and this is a pro to the Audiolab CDT, you can make fast fwd the song by press and hold the Fwd button, you can NOT do this in the Rotel CD player, only with the Remote controller(very embarrassing). From the other hand a con to the Audiolab CDT, when you press the pause button, if you leave it more than a few minutes it goes back to beginning of the CD (I didn't find any setting to change that - very embarrassing). The Rotel doesn't have that problem. Also the Audiolab is little quicker functioning. Another plus to Audiolab, is has a repeat button which repeats the whole CD again and again (Also convenient to "Break In" ur new pair of Speakers, lol)

fine player
Thomas W from LEECHBURG, PA on 10/26/2021
I give this only 4 stars based on my comparison to two other CD players I own, both of which are older and cost considerably more if bought brand new. The first, which is broken and I desperately want fixed, is a Meridian 506 which I bought used about 10 years ago. The second is a Jolida JD100 vacuum tube reference CD player. The ROTEL Tribute is a solid player. I would pair it with a vacuum tube preamp and quality solid state pre-amp. That is the best combo IMHO. I initially tried it with a tube integrated (see pic), but then switched to solid state Parasound amp and CJ PV-5 classic tube pre-amp and preferred that combo. It lacks the very special fluidity of the Meridian 506 and isn't quite as warm as the Jolida. Perhaps a bit more breaking in will make the ROTEL a bit warmer or lush, which is the sound that I prefer, but right now, it isn't quite there. This is nit picking though and I've been used to the others. It is far superior than a $150 dollar budget player. More detailed. I guess audiophile reviewers would call it neutral sounding, which is a good thing. If you are in the market for a mid-range player (and to me, this isn't cheap but not insane like Meridian stuff), I would recommend it, but would suggest that to hear it at it's full potential, you want a good pre-amp (particularly a tube one).
Pros: sounds natural and smooth
Cons: Not quite as good as the great, classic CD players, which eventually break and can't be fixed.

Serious upgrade
Crutchfield customer from Prairie Village, KS on 10/21/2021
Upgraded from a 1990's $100 5-disc player. The additional detail to the disc's I've heard for decades is phenomenal- I suppose the advances in digital to analog conversion explain this. Myself, and a Crutchfield support rep discovered a design flaw in that the power cord hangs loosely and wobbles from the back of the unit. I suggested a replacement power cord and was advised that it would simply repeat the same condition. Ok, I guess.
Pros: Phenomenal, bright, detailed playback
Cons: Power cord wobbles from back of unit

Best Natural Sound
Crutchfield customer from Brea, CA on 9/28/2021
This is the most natural sounding CD player I have heard in a long time. While it is a feature poor unit, this does not affect the quality of the musicality produced. I am attaching it to a McIntosh MA8900 (new) and listening to JBL Century100 (originals purchased in 1973). Along with this CD player is the Marantz CD6006--the model previous to the CD6007). I can compare them through the same system. The Rotel is dead quiet and produces the most natural sounding vocals and jazz I have heard. The remote has all the controls you will need...including tray opening. I compared it with the Marantz. In my opinion I like the Rotel better and could have saved $200 by not buying the Marantz (it does have many more features than the Rotel...optical and headphone features). I have purchased a lot of audio gear over many years and have listened to high ticket CD players like the McIntosh. This Rotel is every bit as nice sounding as the most expensive players and reproduces the sound as if the musician is in the room. Think about spending thousands on a CD player which plays a $15 CD...in my case buying vintage CDs recorded in the 1960s or 50s--buying used CDs which cost $3-4. This Rotel takes the CD and uncovers all the nuances and smooths out the sound...no harshness. For the price you will be extremely pleased--just realize that it is a basic player with no extra features.
Pros: Natural sound...dead quiet
Cons: Very basic unit with no extra features like headphone input

Dang.
Crutchfield customer from Laguna Niguel, CA on 9/27/2021
The biggest issue with this component is that it is costing me significantly more money in additional cd purchases and even repurchases of newly mastered classics I love! Seriously though - what have I been doing all these years? I never knew that an upgrade like this could truly make a difference but it does. It blows my mind all the time and I know its cliche but I really do hear things I have never heard before on recordings I've heard thousands of times before. Just a beautiful machine. I have this paired with a newly purchased Yamaha A-S501 and Monitor Audio Bronze 50's. I feel like a dope for missing out on true high quality listening all these years...

Rotel CD11 Tribute
Crutchfield customer from Templeton, Ca on 9/23/2021
I received my Tribute yesterday (9/22) and was anxious to mate it with my Luxman LV-505u. The unit was packaged very well, however, the first thing I noticed is that these Rotels are "assembled" in China. This is a bit of a red flag for me. Nowhere in any of the promotional material or reviews mention this as far as I could tell. I worry a bit about longevity. Having said that, the build seems solid, the transport mechanism was smooth and solid. The controls are straight forward and intuitive. The display is a little funky looking, but that is nit picking. My first cd to play was John Mayer's Continuim. I was not disappointed in the sound, this cd is a very clean recording and the Tribute delivered in spades. My old Pioneer player was having issues with skipping due to vibration at higher volume levels as my component share the wall unit as my RSL loudspeakers (from the 80's). The Rotel was rock solid at those higher levels, so the damping seems more than adequate. Overall, I am happy with the unit at this early juncture. I will run it through it's paces for the next few weeks looking for any weaknesses and hope it holds up.
Pros: Nice looking, build seems solid, sounds great.
Cons: Minus one star for built in China

Money well spent!!!

I was hesitant about spending this amount on a CD player, all I can say is "Money Well Spent". I swear I hear instruments and sounds on CD's I play all the time that I never heard on my other players. I liked it so well that I bought the matching A11 amplifier.
Pros: Great separation and range.
Cons: None that I've found

I replaced a 20 year old Sony Cd player with this wonderful piece of gear. I am surprised at how much of an upgrade it is, the big difference is that there seems to be real air in between the instruments. I guess this is what audiophiles call sound stage. Anyway it was a real treat. My only concern is the tray. I love the way it takes its time to solidly open and close and scan the cd. But it is tough enough to last? Time will tell. I am running it through an well worn ONKYO TX 8020. No digital inputs - all RCA and using those small Klipisch Towers the rp4000s (an earlier upgrade from Larger Sony towers). Maybe the the ONKYO will be the next thing upgraded.

AMAZING SOUND
Jeff from SCHAUMBURG on 9/12/2021
This player cd is great. I compared the Denon CD DCD-800, Marantz CD-6007, and Rotel CD11 Tribute. I noticed that the cd tray quality for the Denon was a low grade tray and only had a 1 year warranty. I wanted the Marantz which had a 3 year warranty, but has been backordered with unknown ship date . I found the Rotel CD11 tribute and read many reviews online about this player I was not disappointed. What a well built cd player. The cd tray opens smoothly. The cd player has a 2 year warranty. I have Klipsch speakers and it sounds great. I listen to a wide variety of music from Alternative, Jazz, Blue and Classic Rock. My music collection has come alive with this cd player.
Pros: Well Built. Amazing Sound. Came well packaged

Crutchfield customer from Windsor, CO on 9/8/2021
Very happy with this purchase. On most of my CDs the sound is amazing. Very detailed full rich sound. However, there are a few disc that simply do not sound great. I am guessing nothing saves a poor recording. Overall I am very impressed with what I have heard! Functionality is very straight forward and design is simple and clean. If you have a large CD collection this will add years of listening enjoyment! I even wend out to my local used CD store and purchased a few new/used disc and they all sounded amazing! Nicely done Rotel!
Pros: Very well built. Amazing sound. Easy to use. A bit of audio history.
Cons: The tray seems a little light weight and the display looks dated.

Rotel cd11 Tribute
Mark from MANISTEE, MI on 8/14/2021
This Rotel cd11 Tribute waited 9 days for me to get home and hook it up to my NAD 316bee v2 amp and my Realistic 13-1243 3 way vintage tower speakers. New Rich Mullins, Eagles and Chicago box sets were also patiently waiting. I got the speakers 2 weeks ago when I was home, I must say I was surprised at how well they sounded with the LP's and they are really sounding great with the Rotel, very lively and full. I know Chicago is digging the Rotel because they are playing their hearts out. And I know I'm digging it. Never really thought I would shell out $600 for a CD player, I'm glad I did.
Pros: Balanced, full, makes my $40 vintage 3 way towers sound really good.
Cons: Product is exactly what I expected, unless it fails prematurely, none.

I already had a decent universal player, the Oppo BDP-93 but decided to upgrade to a dedicated player and the Tribute reviews sounded good so I got it and must say I'm really happy with it. It is very musical, brings out stuff I hadn't heard before, the hard part is deciding what CD to play next! One little detail, when you put a CD in it doesn't play until you press play, giving you time to sit back ! Highly recommended

Superb CD Player
Levi from Indio, CA on 7/30/2021
I purchased my first Rotel CD 11 Tribute. Packaging was amazing and the cd player is probably the best I have ever used or owned. I had Yamaha, Denon, Marantz, NAD, Pioneer Elite just to name a few. The Rotel CD11 is so far ahead ita not even worth comparing them. I am using Audio Quest King Cobra interconnects and Pangea Audio Power Cable. Marantz PM7005 and KEF Q700 tower speakers. the system sounded good before but the Rotel truly changed everything again. For $599 this player is a steal and nothing will sound better even at $1000. Don't hesitate and get one while they are available because since they are a Tribute piece, they won't be around for long. Thank You Crutchfield for shipping the item so quickly and a massive Thank You to Rotel and the late Ken Ishiwata for making this wonderful product. I am a Rotel fan forever.
Pros: Amazing built quality Sound quality is marvelous
Cons: No Cons what so ever

Henry from Mount Vernon, KY on 6/21/2021
Purchased this CD player to pair with a set of Klipsch the Sixes. I have listened to various CDs in my collection for a few days before writing this review. I am amazed at how natural it makes my music sound. Like I read from another review, you almost forget you are listening to something digital. The treble frequencies aren't harsh, and the bass isn't boomy. The stereo separation is excellent. If you're looking for a great CD player and have no need for a bunch of extra stuff, take a look at this one.
Pros: Music sounds very natural Good bass and treble balance Loads CDs quickly
Cons: None I can think of unless you want a bunch of extras. It does what it was designed to do.

I'm extremely happy with this CD player. Its a replacement for my Rotel RCD971 and offers superb clarity, depth and definition. It offers a neutral, faithful reproduction of the original including background information such as humming and breathing of the performers or background chating of the audience in live performances. Previous generations of CD players were more successful in masking out some of this extraneous information. But, the cost was that nuances in the music were also lost. I listen primarily to classical music and jazz and it a great pleasure to rediscover my collection of CDs with the CD 11 Tribute.

Louis from Mesa on 4/14/2021
The CD tribute is a well made CD player. I like the Texas Instrument DAC. I wanted a player that concentrated on one thing and that was playing CD's. Sound explodes from speakers.
Pros: Well Made Warm sound Easy to use Signal to Noise = 125
Cons: Marantz has more features for same price and a 3 year warranty. Sometimes getting more doesn't make it better. Would have liked that 3rd year though.

Exceeds expectations and not just for "this price point". !st, equipment: this is through a Marantz 7007 AVR used in this case as a preamp, then to a Rotel 120 Amp then on to Klipsch RP8000 speakers. Clarity, soundstage, including depth, is fantastic. Reproduction of individual instruments is clearly heard - you here the drumstick hit the drum head. Vocals are clear and realistic - I use Frank Sinatra recordings for a litmus test because he used a one take policy and you hear what he heard. Operation is seamless and has played everything I've tried. Note: I do not have self recorded CDs. I can highly recommend this CD player.
Pros: To use an anachronistic term it is truly hi-if!

Wow, the Passing of an Audio GIANT is sad anyway you put it. Ken Ishiwata is one special Dude. I never got to hear his kits due to them being out of my means Money wise until 3 weeks ago when I purchased the Rotel CD11 Tribute. For more in depth info please go to the thread I partake in on the Steve Hoffman site about the CD11Tribute here: https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/rotel-cd1572-vs-cd11-tribute.1048815/page-4#post-26381746 But here I will just tell you that, from my MANY experiences with current CD players going back at least a dozen years, this deck stands out just for being MUSICAL. Musical as in Analog sounding. VERY FEW delta sigma dac decks, whatever their price point, have a Musicality that the Old School Philips 1541 ladder dac's, have. A musicality that makes you FORGET that your listening to digital. And that's about the ultimate praise you could ever hope for on a cd spinner. You forget your listening to digital. And if your thinking I work for Rotel, I don't, I work at the number 1 trauma center in Seattle. And I am So impressed by the Tribute11 that I bought a second one from Crutchfield. I ONLY do that when I know I've run across something special. Ken Ishiwata, thank You and R.I.P. Gerard Masters A Verified Purchase
