About the Samsung TXM2798HF
The 27" HDTV-ready TXM2798HF is a real breakthrough — it brings HDTV compatibility to budgets and spaces that can't accommodate larger screens. In fact, with a narrower case than most 27" models, this is one of the few HDTV-ready TVs that can fit in many home entertainment cabinets.
Samsung builds a broad range of value-packed TVs, but only their highest-performing models wear the Tantus badge. Tantus TVs are based on Samsung's totally-flat DynaFlat™ picture tube. This design greatly reduces the distortion and room reflections found on most curved-screen TVs. You don't realize how distracting those things are until they're suddenly gone! An advanced 3D digital comb filter with frame memory does an excellent job of reducing dot crawl and video noise.
Standard video sources such as broadcast and cable TV, satellite TV, DVD, etc., are upconverted to 480p by Samsung's Pro Chip™ Plus "line-doubling" circuitry. It achieves impressive results, especially with DVDs! And when you watch widescreen HDTV programs (separate tuner required) and DVDs, the TXM2798HF performs a slight vertical squeeze that presents the full-resolution image in a 16:9 window.
Two component video inputs let you connect a progressive-scan or standard DVD player plus an HDTV tuner. (If local over-the-air HDTV signals are available in your area, check out Samsung's SIR-T151 and SIR-T165 HDTV tuners.) Four standard A/V inputs handle your current video sources.

Picture Sizes: You can choose one of the following picture sizes:

Remote Surf Timer: This feature allows you to set the TV to return to a particular channel after a certain amount of time. You can set the timer up to 5 minutes in 30-second intervals.
