About the filmmaker 

 



Dr. Parnia is an associate professor of critical care medicine at the New York University School of Medicine, where he directs the Critical Care and Resuscitation Research Science Center. The results of his research have received widespread academic and media coverage and have been published in numerous prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals. He is widely considered to be one of the world's leading experts on cardiac arrest resuscitation, post-cardiac arrest syndrome, and brain monitoring, as well as the scientific study of death, including the human mind-brain, and consciousness at the end of life. Dr. Parnia is a renowned academic researcher, author, and clinician. He has consulted on, or been featured as part of many documentaries, films, and media coverage in the US, the UK, and around the world. Rethinking Death is the first documentary Dr. Parnia has directed; he plans to create additional films in the future to continue to education the public about the science of life and death.
