(550) Santa Fe Springs

Explorer Post 550 was established in August 2012 at the Santa Fe Springs CHP office. The post currently consists of 15 explorers and 13 advisors. The explorers participate in various activities, including ride alongs with CHP officers, assisting with DUI check points, working in the CHP office, assisting at community events and preparing for and participating in explorer competitions.

The Santa Fe Springs Explorer Post was very busy during the months of April, May, and June. The post assisted the office by volunteering to be role players during officer simunitions training as well as assisting with several DUI check points in the area. The explorers also assisted the community by attending a wellness fair in Santa Fe Springs. Members of the Santa Fe Springs post attended Level I and II training with the West LA office explorer post. The explorers received specific instruction in building and vehicle searches, physical methods of arrest, vehicle code violations and penal code violations. They demonstrated their training while participating in the 2nd annual State Capital Explorer Competition.
