The Pontiac Aztek is unquestionably one of the ugliest cars ever conceived but did become a bit of a cult classic after its starring role in Breaking Bad as the ride of choice for Walter White. Eager to see if the styling of the Aztec can be improved, Abimelec Design has rendered this heavily-modified example and much to our surprise, it doesn’t look too bad.

Rather than try to subtly alter the body lines and fascias of the Aztek, the designer instead put its hard edges to good use modifying it for off-road use and adorning with a plethora of aggressive new body panels.

At the front, for example, the Pontiac has been equipped with a black bull bar and a black bumper. In addition, there is a large LED light bar on the roof. Elsewhere, the Pontiac features flared front and rear wheel arches and sits on a set of black wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich off-road tires. The aggressive modifications continue at the rear with a spoiler stretching off from the rear window, clear taillights, distinctive tailpipes, a black bumper, and a black bull bar much like the front.

Completing the looks are black roof rails and an intriguing green paint scheme. There’s no way you could describe this modified Aztek as being ‘beautiful’ but the aggressive new exterior parts certainly give make it more appealing.

Would we want to drive it? Probably not but if we saw someone driving an Aztek like this, we’d give them a tip of the hat for the bold new looks.
