Jose Chirino

Jose Chirino is the Technical Director for the High Performance Materials business unit at LANXESS Corporation, leading the Americas technical team on the development of new products and applications for engineering plastics in automotive and the electronics industries.

Since 2017 Mr. Chirino has been the Vice Chair of the American Chemistry Council’s Automotive Team, and starting Spring 2019 assumed the Chairmanship. The ACC Automotive team is a pre-competitive forum of plastics industry experts promoting broader polymer solutions for the automotive industry.

His 20 years of experience in plastics, encompasses the spectrum of production to end-product, and design through application development with various polymers such as: polyurethanes, polycarbonate, polyesters and polyamides.

Mr. Chirino holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

Mr. Chirino will address lightweight plastics’ and composites’ role in vehicle and passenger safety, their essential contributions to mega trends like autonomous driving, and latest research shaping ACC’s 2020 Plastics and Automotive Technology Roadmap.
