Alligator sightings are nothing new in Louisiana. This year there have been a few across the state.

One estimated to be eight to nine feet long was seen outside of a Baton Rouge restaurant in June. It was removed and killed by a nuisance alligator hunter.

Another, smaller alligator came through an Iberia Parish home’s doggy door the same month, giving a family’s pet a good scare.

Deputies in Plaquemines Parish snapped a picture of a six-foot alligator outside of a Dollar General one August morning.

Suppose you see an alligator outside of its natural habitat. In that case, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries suggests you back away slowly and make a call to report it to agents.
