BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Well-known grocery store chain ALDI is expanding across Louisiana, including here in East Baton Rouge Parish.

In the coming months, grocery shoppers will have another option for food supply. ALDI is bringing three new locations to the capital region.

“It’s really going to change the grocery shopping outlook for the folks here in Baton Rouge,” said Heather Moore, vice president of the Loxley Division.

According to Moore, 90% of what those stores offer are ALDI-exclusive brands making food a lot cheaper for customers.

“Always keep in mind that everything that’s unique to us from maybe where you’ve been shopping for years is just to help our customers stretch their grocery dollars further,” said Moore.

Between locations in Central, Inniswold and Baton Rouge ALDI is expected to bring about 45 to 60 new jobs to the area.

“That’s a lot of jobs. Not only for the … employees. But for the other people that support that store,” said Moore.

Moore says the smaller layout makes it easier for people to shop and creates a more pleasant shopping experience with shorter wait times in check-out lines.

“What’s super exciting is we have people that are willing to take a chance. And they come in and then they’re just so happy. They’re so impressed with the cleanliness and with the way the store is laid out. It’s easy to shop,” said Moore.

The first store is set to open in late summer or early fall. Just in time for the holidays. At this time, ALDI has seven stores open in the state.
