Amazing Spanish hospitality. Kudos to Chef Santiago for an delicious dinner - some of the dishes were his own personal creations. Wonderful in every way! Super Mikey was a creative and skilled host; he organized a wonderful evening with dinner and wine.... a precious memory we will never forget. Do not miss the opportunity to stay here and make some fantastic friends.

Pazo de Laia, hotel in Palas de Rei

23 miles from Congress and Exhibiton Center in Palas de Rei, Pazo de Laia provides accommodations with access to a fitness room, steam room, and solarium.

The friendliness, and hospitality was unbelievable! Personal attention is an understatement. The chef made both a beautiful chicken curry dish and a vegetarian dish upon our arrival. We forgot our walking sticks and Gustav was kind enough to drive them out to us on the Camino. I wish we could have stayed longer to visit with the horses and other animals.

    HORRIBLE HOTEL.

HORRIBLE HOTEL. INFESTED WITH BED BUGS AND NO HEATER IN ROOM. AWFUL SERVICE. NO ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE IN TIMES OF NEED. DISGRACE TO THE CITY. HOPE THE CITY SHUTS THIS HOTEL DOWN. WHEN YOU CALL THE FRONT DESK, THERE IS NO ONE AVAILABLE AND WHEN YOU CALL ON THE CELL PHONE, THEY SAY HEATER IS BROKEN OR MUNCIPALITY DOES NOT ALLOW HEATERS TO BE TURND ON IN ROOMS.

Of all our stops on the Camino from Sarria to here (...

Of all our stops on the Camino from Sarria to here (currently in Melide), Palas de Rei was the least interesting or exciting. Still, it had hidden gems in a hostal we found to eat dinner (there are not a lot of options) and returned for breakfast on our way out. Also, the laundry mat was a big plus and the driers worked really well. Dried a lot of clothes for 3 euros. Just have to ask around for change. The bar next door and the grocery store behind were so helpful.

A great place to stay, relax , have a well earned siesta after long walk from Portmarin 24.6 kms + Probably quieter in October when we visited but still found a good restaurant "Meson a Forxa" and had a delicious meal after 7 - early for Spanish but filled up rapidly . Lots of Camino walkers took break here.

A small town on the pilgrims way, the palas itself is 7 kilometers away. Restaurants are very good and reasonably priced. 10 euros are enough for a person per day to be happy and even to try a milk sucking lamb baked in owen.

Small interesting town on the camino trail route (St James), not a lot to see but a good selection of bars and restaurants. A few shops selling all sorts of things, so you could find what you need if required.

We had such an amazing stay here with Umberto and Miguel. The hotel is a beautiful remodeled rectory. We were walking the Camino with a group of 10 people. The Camino passes right by the hotel, and it is peaceful and quiet and quite luxurious for a Camino hotel. There is bar area outside and a large comfortable living room to hang out in. The dinner was three courses and was delicious. The hosts were warm, charming, knowledgeable and made us feel as though we were guests in their home. I would come back to Spain just to stay in this hotel!

Everything was perfect! Worth a while to make those extra miles from Palas de Rei to get there. It's located on the Camino so next day you make less kms to Arzua. In case of feeling tired and in need of a lift from Palas de Rei, no worries Jorge will pick you up free of charge. The property is beautiful, tranquil and the apartment has all you need during your stay.. and more. The dinner and breakfast are excellent! No doubt the best place during the Camino. We'll be back! Thanks Jorge for everything!

The hosts were absolutely superb at this hotel. They saw us arriving and came out to help us with our bags and immediately opened the garage to store our bicycles. This means so much when you arrive tired, cold and wet. Later the woman at reception rang the baggage transfer company and reassured us that our bag would be collected. The room was warm, the beds were comfortable, lots of hot water for a bath. Perfect

This is a wonderful place to stay for a relaxing time in the Galician countryside. The hotel is right on the Camino Primitivo and a short taxi ride from the Camino Frances. The hosts are warm and friendly and attend to all your needs. We felt more like we were visiting friends than staying at a casa rural. I would definitely recommend it to anyone traveling in the area.

This house has been beautifully restored, but most importantly Patricia and Adrian and their kids are genuinely kind and helpful people. They guided me through all my logistical challenges, as if they were my family. I would walk past Palas de Rei to stay at their place (near Casanova) any day! Besides it brings you closer to Arzúa, which is the long day. Loved it!

Humberto and his colleagues were excellent hosts. They couldn’t have been more helpful. You pass the accommodation on the Camino route 4km before Palas de rei. We completed this 4km later that pm and Humberto kindly dropped us off early the next morning at 6.45 to Palas de rei to continue our Camino trip where we needed to begin our day. This was extremely helpful

Walking the Camino, the hotel was conveniently 30 yards from The Way. As for food, there is a restaurant just next to the hotel and other eateries a short walk in distance. The church and shopping is also very close, so overall a great location.
