Walt Disney Home Entertainment has officially announced the Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack release of Return to Never Land, the 2002 sequel to the 1953 animated classic, Peter Pan. Follow Wendy Darling's daughter, Jane, to Never Never Land when the film arrives on Blu-ray on August 20th.
Synopsis: Wendy's very practical and no-nonsense daughter, Jane (voiced by Harriet Owen), begins the adventure of a lifetime when the infamous Captain Hook (Corey Burton) whisks her away to the enchanted island of Never Land. It's up to Peter Pan (Blayne Weaver), Tinker Bell and the Lost Boys to help Jane believe in faith, trust and pixie dust. With the first-ever Lost Girl at his side, will Peter Pan finally defeat Hook and his swashbuckling band of pirates? The sequel also features the voice talents of Kath Soucie as Wendy, Jeff Bennett as Mr. Smee, Roger Rees as Edward, Spencer Breslin as Cubby, Bradley Pierce as Nibs, and Aaron Spann as the Twins.
The Blu-ray edition of Return to Never Land features a 1080p video presentation and a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround track. Extras have yet to be revealed.
This one wasn't crap, unlike most of them. The ones that aren't too bad are this, 101 Dalmatians II, Aladdin and the King of Thieves, Lion King 1 1/2, Kronk's New Groove, Bambi II, and Cinderella III. Though I'm glad they stopped doing these, I would have liked to have seen sequels to Alice in Wonderland and Dumbo.
@insomniac013: He only mentioned Cinderella III (as NOT crap). By omitting Cinderella II he was agreeing with you that it's crap like most of the cheapquels. (Other than Bambi II, I only have the ones Disney forced on us with the originals--Fox and the Hound, Pocahontas, Mulan, etc.)
@ger0ux23: Alice in Wonderland 3D is a live-action remake of the Alice story by Tim Burton, NOT a sequel. (101 Dalmatians also had a live-action remake; strangely, ITS sequel was called "102 Dalmatians" while the animated cheapquel is "101 Dalmatians II".)
@RBBrittain, Actually I'm pretty sure the Live action Alice in Wonderland was a sequel. It pretty much acted as such by referencing the original events of the story as taking place at an earlier part of her life. Hence why the characters refer to such things. "You'd think she'd remember this from before."
@RBBrittain - Thanks for being able to read. Indeed, Cinderella (2) was crap. Cinderella (3) - not bad. And to all - Alice in Wonderland 3D sucked and can't rightly be considered a sequel to an animated film. Though, I don't blame people for being confused by whether it's a sequel or a remake. Sometimes steaming piles of shite can be tricky to label.
I am going to be picking this one up. I have the original DVD release from 2002 so the Blu-Ray will probably be a nice leap in the picture & sound quality!
I quite liked Return To Neverland, I thought it was a pretty decent sequel. It was given a theatrical release as well so that really made it appeal to me and I think that it is a good movie that is worth owning.
Like all cheapquels, I didn't like this one. Sure is not the worst one but it's not any good either. I can't stand Jane, she's a very unlikable character.
