Peruvian hospitality group to open new restaurant near South Florida's largest mall

A new South American restaurant will soon open next door to Miami’s largest shopping mall.

Acurio International, a subsidiary of the Peruvian hospitality group Acurio Restaurantes, developed a new restaurant concept called Jarana, and the establishment is on track to open within Esplanade at Aventura in March, the company told South Florida Business Journal.

The restaurant will open at 19505 Biscayne Blvd., Suite 5150, near the Aventura Mall.

In Spanish, the word jarana means “revelry” or “party,” and Acurio said its restaurant development team designed the space to reflect the name.

Jarana is intended to embody Peruvian dining culture with lively music and a fusion menu that blends South American, Japanese, Chinese and Italian cuisines. The restaurant will also serve Pisco, Peru's national spirit, along with local craft beers, wines and specialty cocktails. 

Acurio Restaurantes and Acurio International are based in Lima, Peru. The hospitality company currently operates 11 restaurant brands around the world.

Jarana will be Acurio’s 12th restaurant concept and its second Miami location. The group opened its La Mar restaurant in 2013 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Brickell Key.

Acurio Restaurantes was founded in 1994 by Gastón Acurio, one of Peru’s most famous chefs.

Esplanade at Aventura is a first phase ground-up development that boasts 215,000 square feet of retail and entertainment space. It is being developed by Seritage Growth Properties (NYSE: SRG), a New York-based real estate investment trust.

The Aventura Mall is the largest mall in South Florida and one of the top five largest in the U.S. It has approximately 2.8 million square feet of commercial space.
