Recording artist Alejandra Guzman has reinvented herself many times through the years, even when the spotlight has been dimmed by tabloids. Spend any time with the Mexican rock singer, whether from afar or close, and it’s obvious that her open book approach to life is charming, endearing and completely addictive. Just as it was recently at the Great Western Forum in Los Angeles where the 45-year old entertainer took her fans on a musical ride on her “La Guzman 1F Tour.”
Guzman, who grew up in the spotlight of her well-known parents — actress Sylvia Pinal and iconic singer Enrique Guzman — could have easily been labeled just another child of famous people. But through the years she made her own brand of music, creating a catalog of rock themed around the lovelorn that has defined her as a leading female act.
La Guzman, as her fans call her, is all grown up now. But that doesn’t stop her from being the life of the party, musically and otherwise. “Be happy,” she told her fans. “Life is short.”

Guzman took little time to warm up the audience Feb. 1 at the new Forum, which recently reopened after a major remodel. Guzman, too, seemed new and improved with a glowing new lease on life. She proved that when she performed her signature hits and took a few fans by the hand while walking by them in the front row, while sitting on the shoulders of a member of her team.
There were the classic songs such as “Eternamente Bella,” “Hacer el Amor Con Otro,” and “Toda La Mitad.” But there were also newer compositions that have helped the songstress stay relevant through the decades and remain the Latin rock queen. This tour features many of her hits from the December release of “La Guzman en Primera Fila (Live)”.
Through the years, Guzman’s public persona has taken hits from her self-acknowledged drug-addiction and bad plastic surgeries. She suffered her biggest health blow in recent years when one of those procedures nearly killed her. Through it all, Guzman’s star has shined bright.
The recent show is part of an extensive tour that will take her to such places as Las Vegas, Houston, Miami and Puerto Rico. This time around Guzman isn’t highlighting her rebellious themes, rather she’s embracing. She brings us into her genuine appreciation of music, fans and life. She proves to be the ultimate survivor against the backdrop a fascinating career that is still entertaining us several decades later in an exciting and vibrant way.
